OK, after some thought on this here is how I feel about this list,
- I don't think many people like the fact of having their name, possibly even their real names, country, and other pseudonyms, posted on the internet as a "domainer" (a.k.a. cybersquatter in the eyes of the majority of the world).
- I feel that the trust from these two communities has been broken. It looks like you harvested user names and posted them on the above mentioned site without their permission (I know for a fact I did not give you my permission to have my name on there).
- Many of the people on there are labeled as "low budget" while I understand NP is a free forum, some people won't take it as such and could be insulted by that.
- I'm sure some of the people on there do not consider themselves domainers (going back to my previous question - what are the qualifications you went by?). Some people here are developers and NOT domainers. BTW - what exactly is a domainer (definition?). If you look at Wikipedia (domainer redirects to domaining):
Domaining is the business of buying, selling, developing and
monetizing Internet
domain names not for primary use as a website, but with the goal of profit generation with the intent of resale, like real estate. The noun form is
domainer. A
domainer is a person who engages in domaining.
(copied word for word from dictionary.com for "domainers").
I don't plan on reselling many of my sites and what I acquire for domains from now on will primarily be for development, not reselling.
- Even without our real names, with some research people can easily get our information and then take issues from here, the internet, into real life. How would you like it if someone posted your information on the internet (BTW - if your WhoIs information is correct - how is life 5 blocks from the Pacific Ocean?).
The only way I feel a database like this would work is if you made people sign up for it and made it 100% clear that their information would be posted on the site. Not the other way around, posting people's information without their permission. This way, people know what they are getting into and want to have their names published.
I personally do not like having my name on this list and respectfully request that it be removed.
Edit: Some names on that list are business entities / TM - you may be in violation of several federal laws by posting this information by associating their business with an aspect of an industry that they are not nor do not want to be associated with - if there is one then you, as of when you posted that, are guilty of libel (libel is slander that is written and/or published). This not only opens you up to have federal charges pressed against you (depending on your jurisdiction, it can be a civil case or a criminal case) they can also sue you for damages which a good lawyer could get a lot for this.
We also have the right to complain to your registrar (Spot Domain) and host (1&1) over this. A quick letter from an attorney (and there are several on here named in your list as a domainer) would quickly get your site taken down.
I also do now know how the site management feels about having "DN FORUM" in your title tag:
Domain Name Industry Observer DN FORUM IDN Registrars Hosting Servers Rating Resellers Website Developers PPC CASH FLOW Internet Business
