The past few weeks have been pretty crazy in the world of domaining, as witnessed here on this forum.

When I ran a scan on August 8 of N-N-N.com there were 617 remaining out of a possible 1000 number combinations. In less than 24 hours, more than 60 had been regged. From that point on when reported on this forum, in less than 48 hours all 1000 combinations had been regged.

We all know that the LLL.com and NNN.com have been regged for quite some time. Now the focus is obviously shifting to other areas, most notably the LLLL market. But there are many surprises there as well.

ALL LVLV.com are regged.
ALL VLVL.com are regged.
ALL VVVV.com are regged
ALL LVVL.com are regged

And add these stats:

ALL N-N-N.com are regged.
ONLY 5,820 out of 17,576 L-L-L.com remain

When I first related some of these stats (08/10/07), out of the 15,000 most popular/commonly used English dictionary words,

Only 6 remained that were dot (.) com, now there are 4;

INSOFAR-AS.com
IRRESPECTIVE-OF.com
PURSUANT-TO.com
PURSUANTTO.com

and only 37 remained in dot (.) net, now there are 27;

CHARACTERISTICALLY.NET
ILL-HEALTH.NET
SUB-COMMITTEE.NET
ENTHUSIASTICALLY.NET
NATIONALISATION.NET
LONG-STANDING.NET
IRRESPECTIVE-OF.NET
AGGRIEVED.NET
DISTINGUISHABLE.NET
INSOFARAS.NET
PURSUANT-TO.NET
CORRESPONDINGLY.NET
INDISTINGUISHABLE.NET
BY-ELECTION.NET
FULL-BACK.NET
PURSUANTTO.NET
SOCIO-ECONOMIC.NET
INSOFAR-AS.NET
PRESUPPOSES.NET
INTERGOVERNMENTAL.NET
WOULD-BE.NET
ENVISAGED.NET
IRRESPECTIVEOF.NET
DUODENAL.NET
MAJ-GEN.NET
DISPROPORTIONATELY.NET
CO-ORDINATING.NET

What’s Next?

So, it would seem that as the .com goes, so too goes the .net. I decided to run some scans on the most popular alternatives in the .net extension. It would stand to reason that the ones that went and go quickly in the .com would influence the .net registrations. This extension is very popular in the European markets and Asian markets.

These scans exclude the letters Q, X, Y, Z which I strongly believe are very marketable in their own right but for the sake of highlighting just prime and sub prime letters (as well as cut down a tremendous amount of scanning time).

ALL LVLV.net are regged.

ONLY 1,749 out of 7,225 VLVL.net remain
76% registered. This total is down from 1,790 just a couple of days ago

ONLY 160 out of 625 VVVV.net remain
76% registered. 30 less than just a couple of days ago.

ONLY 3,651 out of 11,205 LVVL.net remain.
67% registered

Scans were performed within the past couple of hours from the time of this posting.

Thanks for the research, love reading this stuff. What is so great about VVVV.net or .com for that matter? Never seen anyone looking for VVVV in the wanted threads.

I think this shows people will have to start to pay up for certain .com and .net letter/number strings, or they will have to move to .info, .org, .biz and cctld.

wait till they're all regged, which imo is a matter of weeks.
still 5k to go.
the developed sites list that i'v been eworking on has thrown up hundreds of sites, there thousands of them!

once smaller businesses & medium busineses realise they cant handreg anymore theyr'e gonna have to start buying them.
they'll always be second best to LLL
But second best could be a great place to be.

I am not too sure the mystique of the VVVV other than the simple fact, again, of supply and demand. There can only be 625. That's it. And when you are talking an LLLL, that is a very small fraction of the total available. Most of the VVVV.com I have seen recently on the drop or at auction are bringing very good prices.

Break it down even further, there can only be 125 starting with each letter of the alphabet. So now we see where all .net beginning with the letter A are taken.

I was fortunate to snag some vvvv.com early on. None are developed but all are very good for traffic and some pay very nice PPC.

I mentioned in another thread of a particular eiea.net getting thousands of hits a month, mostly Asian. Difficult to optimize but I am getting some searches entered on it which tell me what people are looking for so I may be close to actually setting some keywords.

I wish that was the case. I was doing this FOR OTHER PEOPLE as an advertising exec. They were the ones reaping the benefits. I know that sounds odd, but I was not doing this as a sideline or as a hobby for myself but only for clients.

One group that I consulted with had me create more than 200 potential NASCAR domain names for potential websites. They liked every one and had me register them on their behalf.

Some turned into very successful and profitable sites. My payment was in the form of consultation fees and bonuses.

Understand that I can not (by contract or by choice) disclose who some of my clients are or have been, thanks to either non-disclosure agreements or not wanting others to hone in on the action. I would be a fool to betray this association and trust that I have build up over the years. Some of these firms are no slouches and a couple are in the Fortune 100 as well as national (US based) and international.

Never, ever burn bridges. Always maintain contacts with business associates. It really does pay off in the long term scheme of things.

I still do consulting for some firms and still do some freelance graphics and design and layout and even some illustrations, when I have the time which has not been much lately due to family illnesses.

It was only about 10 or 11 years ago I regged my first domain for my sole use. It was purely for vanity and business use. But I have learned a tremendous amount over the years working with these different groups and all sorts of techheads, copyrighters, corporate attorneys, and just listening and reading up on things.

That's why as soon as some of these hospitals I work at find out about my background they want me on every damn committee there is. I originally consented but now have backed off. Most I have resigned from as in my spare time I am assisting taking care of my mother.

At times I wish I had done things differently but still I have no regrets. I remember registering names for firms when they were $99 per year. I think that is one big reason I did not get into it early on. I saw no point in it. But, the companies had much deeper pockets than me and as long as they were paying me then all was good.

But now it is time to look ahead, not behind. That is why I am posting many of these lists.

Gotta go. Taking a break at work but now it is back to the rounds.

Wow.. THanks for your info. You are really a good researcher

Btw do you know how to valu 4 - 5 characters domain? Perhaps you can refer a site such as 3character.com (guide to value 3 char domain price ).

Thanks

Excluding the letters q, x, z, scan for cvcv.net with letter "Y" re-ran and there are none available.
