I prefer donating to organizations that help the homeless rather than giving money directly to the homeless, because I know that the money will be used appropriately.

For all you know Batman, he could of blown it on Alchohol.

The organization could have blown it leveraging the $100 35 times! :disappointed::disappointed:

or paid 70% of it to administration costs..

Karma is very real MIR. Good job.

You gave the man $100 - You feed him 3 days.

You teach him how to run a domain business. You feed him 30 years.

"Could" have.. Depends really what charity your giving to.

Giving money directly to the homeless creates more problems... That's all I'm saying.

Give a man Fish and he eats for one day, teach a man to fish and he eats for a life time :)

That man could have bought a few domains and flip them :D

Just kidding, but remember that no good deed goes unpunished :)

Good to hear about the restaurant.

Took my kid on a service project to an assisted living home and helped the kids play Bingo and other games with the elderly people there. (Just past Sunday).

We went to the same place just before Valentines Day and kids sang some songs and played some games.

You can see the happiness in their faces that money can not buy.

Life is busy but, I lost my mother few months back and when I go and see the elderly, I could see my mom in each one of them and seeing them so happy made me get tears.

I do it all the time..good man MIR!

Who cares what he spends it on?

Fact is, you empowered him to make a choice.

Maybe he will drink enough liquor from that $100 to figure out he wants to get better.

Remember, it's always darkest before the dawn. :pray2: :hippie:

another note for RAIDER - unfortunately from past experiences I learned that charities take 70% commission and only 5-30% will reach out to people!

Homeless shelters take 70%? I don't know where you got that number but it's WAY off.

There are many charities out there that do a lot of good, Not just providing these people with food and shelter but giving them clothing, a bath, proper hygiene, and most importantly helping them find a job so they can lead productive lives, Does your $100 do all that?

The point your missing in all this is; Donations made directly to the homeless prevent people from seeking the help they really need. By giving, your prolonging a lifestyle that is not healthy... But do as you wish, it's your money.

Yeah right, who cares?

It's not the responsibility of the giver anymore, they’ve done their good deed for the day, so they have no reason to feel guilty where the money goes.
