I just visited Domaintelevision.com to see what it was all about and on their "screen" was an article, the beginning of which I will copy below. Calling their customers "scum" is not a great business plan. What the hell do they think they are doing?

"The In's and Out's of Pre-Owned Domain Names

I don't know about you, but sometimes it seems like all of the best domain names have already been taken. On more than one occasion, I've come up with a great domain name for a site, only to find that someone else had already purchased it. I can live with that, but sometimes I've found that it has been purchased by some scum domain scavenger, and that's really annoying.

A domain scavenger is someone who purchases a whole bunch of domain names under the theory that people will want to purchase some of them during the year or two that they own them. These people are bottom feeders, as they hold many useful domains, demand huge prices, and do not provide any real value. It's not uncommon to find that a domain name is not available, to check the WHOIS information and find it is owned by "this domain is for sale". In fact, some of these scum have been known to purchase thousands of domain names made of up the first and last names from a phone book, in the hopes that at least some of the people will want their names as a dot com."

This HAS to be a joke, right?

This guy ADVERTISES here at the premiere home for serious domains speculators!

If it's for real, it's like the Israelis advertising on the Palestinian Home Page!

Now excuse me, I have get back to my bottom feeding! :cheeky:

Anyone know his name? We can buy it and change the WHOIS to just say "scum" :)

domainsbot has been a joke for as long as it's been on the
market.

the data generated is useless. there is almost no customer
support.

they're all about tricky marketing talk, nice graphics and cool
plots and stats.

their domain television is yet another attempt to revive the dying
sister service.

personally, the domain television concept is more lame than
anything else.

just my 2 cents.

I see they are based out of Rome, Italy. Is anyone from there a member at DNForum? Or any other domain forum?

The article appeared to be written by an individual from another website (unfortunately I didn't make a note of the credits at the bottom of the article). That isn't much excuse for DTV publishing it as a "how to" guide on their own site. Either they didn't bother to read it before they published it or they didn't care.

I'm sure neither Luigi or Sheva have anything to do with domainsbot.

I'm not saying they do - WebCat asked if there were any members in Italy.

kind of sad really..
So are those that invest in a company in hopes of its stocks going up 'scum' because they are raising the price of a certain stock???

I understand the frustration of the person writing such an article (he/she probably tried to get a domain they wanted and could not get it), but that's not an excuse...

If they were smart enough, they should have gotten it first.

Such arguments to me, make good arguments for communism.
It sounds good in theory, it is NOT reality.

We fed the beast with our bare hands, and it bit our hands off at the wrist. Tomorrow, who will feed the beast?

Well... I thought it sounded good, anyway.

I just received this email from DomainsBot and thought I'd share it with the rest of the DNF members...

I'm EXTREMELY sorry for this problem. On our Domain TV we publish articles from outside sources. This is a completely automatic process, and we do not review the material that goes live every time.

I will immediately suspend the DTV shows until I solve the problem. I will immediately remove that program too.

On our side, we DO NOT believe that speculators are scum. About 90% of our customers are speculator, and we base our business on them. As of today, I believe that we are the #1 provider of domains for the speculation business.

Again, I'm VERY sorry for this, but I hope that you will accept my
apologizes, understanding that the article you refer to has been
published in error and is NOT RELATED with us.

We will also put more attention in all the info we publish on our TV channel in the future.

Feel free to call me with any questions or concerns.

Very Best Regards,

Daniel Mejia - CEO - DomainsBot.com
