The dotMobi Advisory Group (MAG) and the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) today announced the signing of a global Industry Alliance Memorandum of Agreement. The MAG -- a dotMobi-accredited, independent not-for-profit industry forum -- and the MMA -- which represents more than 450 companies across the global mobile marketing ecosystem -- agree to support each organisation's initiatives; including mobile advertising, mobile search and mobile commerce; to advance the development of a common set of guidelines, best practices and commercialisation efforts to encourage the growth of the mobile Internet industry.
"Industry cooperation and collaboration are key drivers for the successful future of the mobile Internet economy," states Michael J. O'Farrell, Chair and Executive Director of the dotMobi Advisory Group. "The Mobile Marketing Association has been a global leader in publishing best practices and guidelines for the mobile industry and we look forward to working together to support each other's efforts and shape the future of .mobi domain-based services and offerings. The alliance between the dotMobi Advisory Group and the Mobile Marketing Association provides dotMobi and our members with the global insights and perspectives to recommend industry-accepted and adopted best practices for dotMobi style guides as well as policy compliance programs to support global consumer-based .mobi domain trustmark efforts."
The MAG-MMA Industry Alliance includes reciprocal programs for each organisation's executive management for cross-committee participation, ongoing event support and global networking to advance mobile Internet commercialisation efforts targeted at serving the best interests of the mobile industry and consumers worldwide.
"The Mobile Marketing Association provides an action-oriented, collaborative environment in which all parties engaged in the mobile channel can work together to develop our industry in the best interests of the industry across all sectors and the consumer," said Laura Marriott, President of the Mobile Marketing Association. "Partnerships, like those with the dotMobi Advisory Group, help to build a cohesive industry ecosystem and ensure a consistent industry approach that protects consumers, brands and all players implementing mobile Internet service offerings. We look forward to building a strong partnership with the dotMobi Advisory Group and their members worldwide."
The signing of the MAG-MMA Industry Alliance agreement is made on the heels of MAG's endorsement of the recently published MMA Mobile Advertising Guidelines. One example of this newly formalized collaboration encourages an open dialogue between the MMA and MAG for further development of the MMA Mobile Advertising Guidelines. The fourth revision of the MMA Mobile Advertising Guidelines was published this month by the MMA's Mobile Advertising Committee and can be viewed at:
