On March 7, dotMobi plans to auction a select group of domains at T.R.A.F.F.I.C. WEST 2007 in Las Vegas. The .mobi names scheduled for auction are:

“airfare,” “areacodes,” “cam,” “casinos,” “creditscore,” “directions,” “eat,” “libre,” “loancalculator,” “models,” “newmusic,” “pics,” “pizza,” “realestate” and “singles.”

This selection of names is subject to change at dotMobi’s discretion.

Not sure if you READ news or not, these names were pulled back - Moniker issues a PR and then retracted the .mobi domains 2 hours later...

knee jerk reaction?

Nope. I just do my best to bring domain related news to the forums. My duel screens help a bit. ;)

Do you by ANY chance have a few 'mobile' 'phone' related keyword .com's you're concerned about losing traffic ,due to the obvious popularity of .mobi taking away your traffic? :yo:

Don't pannic, theirs still lots of avaliable .mobi's for you to recover any losses.

at least allow me to have my OWN view on domains and not hide behind Jeremy ;)
I am sure a lot of us .mobi investors had no idea who Jeremy was when we backordered our .mobi's.

By the way, my daughter's preschool teacher has an excellent reading program if you are interested. ;)

they must be having troubles finding people who are interested in developing them. the only people buying domains at such an auction are domainers. i am not a mobi hater, i have over 7k invested in it but it sucks to see them go this route.

RealEstate.mobi ... very nice! That, "singles" and "casinos" would be my picks for highest sale.

The super premiums ie; news, weather are going out to tender
So the best people who want to develop them will get them
The ones we are discussing here will be sold to the highest bidder.
I think many will be developed in time tbh as without, there will be no traffic unlike the com equivalent.
If they just wanted to sit on & resell there are much better bargains on sedo all the time for them.
There have been names of the calibre they're offering & are certainly ones listed for sale that slipped through the premium list.
At the auction will be a mix of professional/amateur domainers & endusers.
There'll no doubt be com owners too.
I see no problem with it. I think it's cool. One of the highlights of the year are the auctions.
I won't be 'as' interested if none of my names have been selected LOL
Only submitted 3, so doubt they will tbh

Allthough im a BIG .Mobi fan, i have a feeling these domains are going to struggle to reach their expected figures. The only domain i'd consider to be premium from that list is <-directions-> because it fits the .Mobi tag perfectly.

Future GPS integration into cellphones should put pizza.mobi on the must have list of every large pizza chain. Unless, perhaps they are totally unaware of the value or .mobi. In that case, someone will get a deal and make a fortune selling it later.

for this exact reason realestate.mobi should demand top dollar

I'm really surprised they are doing this. Speculation and holding are the mortal enemy of dotMobi or any new extension. They should have a requirement that a meaningful site be up in 6 months for anyone who buys one.

After a learning experience..

As a principle ,I didn't submit any for this auction even with the reserve method..

I am saving my Dot Mobis.. to ride off of this auction's wave.. and more news later.. I love the Dot Mobi news' leaky faucet..

I love pizza.

Kind Regards,

Yelo
