Hey everybody!

Is there any tool that you'd recommend for catching less popular names that drop? Thanks for your help! :)

There are 2 parts to attempting to catch expiring domains. (Script and registrar connection.)
Plus, it also depends on the tld you are chasing.

1. There are a couple software scripts available.
One of the more popular one is/was www.dnware.com .
Plus, Dan is easy to work with.
You probably know him for www.JustDropped.com

2. Which registrar is the script working through?
Years ago, Enom did not mind some of scripts sharing the connection during drop times.
Assuming you are going after .com or .net.
Then, they reduced the availability of connections to outside scripts.

Don't even bother to chase any domain that a registrar (Namejet, Snapnames or Pool) will be going for.
But, there are some mediocre domains you can grab.

Now, that the tasters have cutback (reduced) the quantity of domains they are tasting, you might have a chance.

Let us know how it works out.

I use Dynadot to catch drops, using a small software I made out to continuously try catching names in a list until they are taken or keep trying. You need to have bulk pricing there to have the API available to use.

Its fairly easy to code a script if you know programming. Only downfall is that you have to have the program running on your local machine during the time you think the name would be dropped. Works for medium quality domains which the big drop catchers aren't looking at.

Don't reinvent the wheel, go to Namejet or snapnames or pool

I made a tool for this & many users report back their success at grabbing "less popular" names. Sometimes it will even beat godaddy and domain tasters.

But if there's a backorder put in at snapnames, pool or namejet - my tool cannot compete. However, it works great for less popular names that are still valuable, just not worth the $60 backorder.
