HI everyone.

I'm a new poster here although a long time lurker.

Can anyone explain to me why it is that the domain name listings that are about to expire vary wildly on a day to day basis?

For example my primary interest is in domains that are registered in Yahoo and Dmoz.

Sometimes a list will show a few domains and then checking back a few hours later there are a lot more.

Droplists.net show very differently on a day to day basis... should I just bite the bullet and buy a daily list from exody?

I have used domain-retriever, domains bot etc, but often it seems that names appear on one or other lists that I haven't seen before.

Can someone please tell me which list I should be looking at to give me a reliable "guide" Or is this part of the game?

I understand that it's difficult to compile reliable lists.
Services for retrieving domain names are springing up all of the time. What I am looking for is a service that shows the names that are dropping... also .co.uk ones.

Ok, here's the scoop.

I'm the guy who created DropLists, Domain-Retriever, and a few
other services out there.

If you're looking for daily pendingdelete, there will always be a
delay all throughout the day simply because the zone updates
at what seems like completely random times. Some days the
first update will be done before noon, while on other days it
won't be done until 3pm.

The zone update contains domain names added/removed to
the zone, or in other words domains which are set to drop OR
which have been registered.

Now, the DropLists.net lists are compiled a few times per day,
but the RGP and Hold will be pretty much complete by 9am or
so. The daily pendingdeletes may take a few hours, once again
based on zone updates. The daily drops don't get compiled until
the drop actually takes place.

The lists will vary from Exody, to DropLists simply because the
services vary. Although many domains will exist in both lists (say
the RGP lists are 60% alike), there will be differences. This
is what makes the two services unique.

Keep in mind that Exody provides raw lists, while DropLists.net
and DR provide raw lists AND compiled lists.

Depending on what types of Yahoo/Dmoz lists you want to get
(daily drops, pendingdelete, RGP, hold), will determine the type
of service you want to use.

For Yahoo/Dmoz RGP, Hold and early pendingdelete use DR. Load
the list in and scan it manually. DR gives you the option of using
Exody lists (provided free for life of the product) or DropLists.net
lists so you get to scan both and stay ahead.

10k-30k domains will take approximately 10 minutes in ultra
mode assuming you have a DSL or Cable connection.

If you're looking for DAILY DROPPING Yahoo/dmoz use DropLists.

When is the best time? 2PM Central time.

There is really no such thing as a "100% complete lists provider",
every provider has it's +'s and -'s.

Let me know if you have any questions.

OK,
I guess my point is that at the moment DR is not working. Because if you try to download any Yahoo/Dmoz lists then it just says "not found"

Do I need to upgrade?

The same for droplists.net. Archive not found.

Is it just me?

DropLists.net is showing dropping tomorrow, dropping today,
pendingdelete, RGP, hold Yahoo lists fine. I just tested
to make sure.

Expired today doesn't show anything because none of the
drops are available anymore (they've been picked up by
various drop catchers).

You won't be able to find many (if any) AVAILABLE Yahoo domains.

Dmoz domains might be a little easier, but DropLists.net doesn't
process those.

Same goes with DR. Expired today = 0. None are available, all
other Yahoo lists work fine.

Make sure you have the latest version,

http://www.domain-retriever.com/dl/reg/Setup.exe

If you're looking for Available Yahoo lists, you're out of luck
because they don't exist.

Certain individuals completely destroyed that market several
months ago by releasing a script on eBay and selling it for
pennies.

Gotcha.

Personally, I think you'll never get an honest response (truly
honest response).

This is because you're asking your competitors how to beat
them. It wouldn't make sense for them to outline their process
or method of acquiring such domains in a public forum since
it would create more competition.

Than again, can't hurt to ask right?

No - it can't hurt to ask right!

OK, I understand that.

I do my own research and I buy the tools requred to do the job.

So what you are saying is that if I found a service like snapcheck.com or similar then I shouldn't broadcast the name because obviously it is giving everyone who listens here a "heads up" to coin a phrase. Not that "they" need any help.

I understand that knowledge is power - I am trying to find out more for myself how the deletion process works.

So I better just shut my mouth then.... LOL.

And take a trip abroad to visit some professionals. Any spare beds?
