I recently let numerous domains drop. None of which ever had any interest before they were dropped. Almost all were picked up. Can someone explain why?

Sure..very simple: They only had to pay reg fee, and for some reason people value dropped domains higher than currently held/registered ones for sale. It's the sense of urgency one experiences by having to bid against others who also want it which in turn increases the perceived value of said domain name due to basic human nature, agressive & competitive male ego's, and of course deep pockets. Thank you, drive through. :eek:k:

I've seen the same - many of which were picked up by drop-catchers.

Eh, if they want my garbage, so be it.

All of these domains were hand registered as well, 2 years ago. I would have sold the bundle for $25 per domain.

newbie pickers love to scan drop lists, and reg the names and then drop them again.

I try to sell all of my expiring domains - most go below reg fee and still don't sell, then, a few months later, someone pays $60-$70 for it.

Well most were picked up by the same person, who has privacy. Never know maybe a member here. There were at least another two people though. Is there any way of finding if they actually paid any money for catching the domains?

He has to pay more for privacy. Reg fees + privacy fees. May be the person like to do bulk development.

It is only the resellers who pick up the dropped domains because, you have purchased these (garbage)domains for its development potential or its potential resale value.

Drop catchers catch these domains and resell them and mint money.

All the Best.

Before they drop, post them here in the offers section starting at $10. If no other bids after 24 hours, sell them :)

Been doing that, even as low as $5 - I've sold extremely few. I guess they really were crap. Well, they're someone else's crap now. :)
