Hi Guys,

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with the Dyandot API for dropcatching domains?

I don't want to put over $300 into my account to access and use the API if its not good for dropcatching.

Any experience good/bad then please let me know.

You can beat only those who hand register from daily drops, but you can beat them even without an API by using dynadot quick checkout if you know the exact time and order of dropping domains ;)

You will have to buy a piece of software as well in order to use that API so add $50 more to that $300 :D

Thanks for the reply.

The software will be my own. I'm a .net developer and work with API's all the time so its not a problem.

I was just wondering if the API can compete with the big boys Pool, Godaddy backorders etc?

Nope, You don't really have any chance competing against them. A few days after trying this API you would realize how much you hate buydomains & their team ;)

I guess with the Dyandot api your also restricted to how many times you can check for a drop in a minute etc?

I think I will give it a miss for now. When i do eventually have the required funds in Dynadot from my usual domain activities, i'll at least test it out then for a while.

Yes, thats the thing. even most chinese drop catchers would leave you behind with their php scripts.

From my experiences, no! no better than little boy gd, definitely no better than big boys pool, nj, sp, etc.

Please also see this,

Quotas - For COM/NET domains, you can only check or register the same domain 10 times every 100 seconds.

http://www.dynadot.com/domain/api.html

Remember, there will also be lots of reg errors during its busy time.

ONLY A LITTLE BETTER THAN HAND REG!!!

That's it. Registrars have direct access to the registry, an API does not grant you direct access since you have the registrar as a go-between (+ back and forth communication).
