why are people registering names with e first then the name?
i thought e was for email or electronic. so why ebusiness or whatever?

this was mainly a trend set early on by venture backed companies.
webuythedotcom has some listed above, others are/were

etoys.com (idealab startup)
ebusiness.com purchased for millions back in the day. (idealab founder of overture)

Because every city name is worth something. Check Icity.com Zcity.com 4City.com 2City.com FindCity.com VisitCity.com I am sure they are all gone as are other extensions.
