The poll is off to a slow start... but even these early results are beginning to provide some interesting insights into which strategies forum members think are worthwhile to select/acquire domains. The poll, located in the Gold Cafe to allow wide access, asks -- "Which Domain Selection Strategies are Good?" Voters can vote for more than one strategy. Here are the early results ranked from high to low ranked strategies. At the moment, acquisition strategies based on type-in traffic, 2-3 letter .COMs, dictionary word .COMs, and short brandable .COMs seem to be riding high. It will be interesting to see how/if these results change with more votes.

High:

Documented history of type-in traffic = 17.24%

Very short (2 or 3 letter) .COM = 17.24%

One or two dictionary/key-word .COMs = 17.24%

Short, pronouncable, brandable .COM (more than 3 letters) = 13.79%

Mid:

Roll-out of major generic TLD (e.g. .INFO, .BIZ) = 10.34%

Made up words based on expected future trends (e.g new technology, products, etc) = 6.90%

Documented history of search engine traffic = 6.90%

Roll-out of major country code TLD (eg. .US, .CN, .IN) where you do not live but allowed = 6.90%

Low:

Roll-out of your own country code TLD = 3.45%

Roll-out of major restricted TLD (e.g. .PRO) where restriction is not clear = 0%
