So blue.com is for sale on Sedo with a minimum offer price of $10,000.

This domain is owned by mindspring; which merged with Earthlink in February of 2000.

Is it normal for businesses to try to sell domains like this? Or, is it likely a sign of bad to come?

If I owned any Earthlink stock I'd definitely be selling but hey... I'm a pessimist.

It's definitely strange.

I feel like the following conversation happened between one guy and his boss...

*phone rings*
Yes sir, we've sold everything! Correct sir, our people are working from their personal computers while standing at park benches using local wifi. Sell the what? Sell the domains? Yes sir. Sounds like we might actually be able to pay our hosting bill!
*hangs up*

Well, if they have no use for the name, why NOT sell it and get some cash in the company account?

I can see why Amex might have bought it, but I'd see IBM making much better use of this name, since they are known as "big blue", after all.

Is it a mistake? Maybe it's blue.co

Yes, domains are assets. But, not all companies realize this.
