Easiest most secure Forum software that does not take a rocket scientist?

Hey all, Chris here was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the best forum software going. I am aware of the general stuff and basics but really have not set one up myself although I have a lot of domain & domain development experience. Looking for a forum expert, I am looking to set one up with minimal head banging on wall. Let me please hear your thoughts on the matter and which is the absolute best program to use that is safe/secure and easy to customize. (I am guessing it's going to be vbulletin but I know there is newer stuff out there) Please and thank you! k:

Which version? I read some not so favorable reviews on the newest #5, what about the cloud based option? Thanks

Regular 5 is ok.
Cloud is good if you are not sure and want to experiment (VB and test traffic) 25GB a month is good enough for starting site.

Well this is for a good traffic name and sure to have plenty of members so I have to get this right the first time

I am considering the cloud based option VB I guess I was just wondering if anyone preferred the other various ones out there over the VB for whatever reasons. Still open to discussion of course, thank you Johnn you know I luv ya bro

vb is ok, but is such a heavyweight script, that it is almost unmaintainable. I remember when I got hacked on vb4 through third party plugins. couldn't get rid of that shit.

big plus is quiet strong community, while lack of documentation is a downside. at least on my end.

don't forget to check xenforo...

Go with cloud for $19 a month. You can always convert to full license.
As far as hacking - Hackers can hack into any site depending on how do you set up security.
