I bought a eDirectory.com Owned License for my new Australian Classifieds - Events -Articles site and guess what it cost me all up around $2500 USD.

It is a pretty good program, but the worst thing is if you need any changes done to your site via the source code, there are always big fees involved. i.e.

I cannot afford there ridiculous charges work on my site which I have not or wont pay.

My requested changes so far

1. $170 just to be able to get my articles section to display links in the articles.

2. $40 just to be able to change my business listing durations from 30 days to 90 days

3. $125 just to be able to change the size of an advertising box from 250x250 to 160x600 and the colour of the box from Black to White

4. New software upgrades have a fee which I expect would be no less that $1000

Other rediculous quotes I wont mention.

I also always ask how can I do the changes myself, and yet I am never told. I have basic knowledge of PHP and I know I could do these changes.

I think it is disgusting that you pay $2500, yet you still have to pay for basic changes at exhorbanent prices, when if the instructions weregiven to me, I could do it, I paid the $2500 to have full access to the Source Code.

Anyone else use edirectory? Check it out www.edirectory.com

Think Twice!

My Email to them!

I also always ask how can I do the changes myself via accessing the source code, and yet I am never told. I have basic knowledge of PHP and I know I could do these changes.

3 - Why cant you give me directions on how to fix these my self? I cant afford to waste money on simple changes, I would like to be able to access the source code myself.

I take all responsibility for any problems I may cause.

I am not try to cause problems or upset you, but why cant you tell me how to do it myself when I numerous occasions I have ask you for instructions and yet you dont tell me?

4 - Why dont you supply a forum where other members can offer help, just like www.vbulletin.com and www.photopost.com.

I paid the $2500 expecting I would be getting top of the range service, I cant even post URL's in Articles and that is a major factor of writing articles, that is a frustrating, I cant upload information flyers to our events section, there is no "Price Box" in the Classifieds section

5 - Sorry but please reply with my questions, I am very frustrated

My Site using there software:

If you have full access to the source code, why not hire a freelance professional to help you? PHP is php and any developer should be able to make those changes for you at a fraction of what they charge.

it's probably encoded, I don't think they'd sell the source.

It says as a ecommerce owner:

You have access to FULL Source Code. You may customize it yourself, or have eDirectory do customizations at our standard hourly rate.

Will put up a request

Sounds like you need to figure it out yourself or hire a dev.

I would say your complaint should more be their lack of support, if that.

I have done some basic changes, but I cannot work out the main things I want fixed, and cant afford their ridiculous quotes of like $175 for 5 minutes work.

My request for a coder is here: http://www.dnforum.com/f155/wanted-php-coder-website-changes-thread-313912.html#post1510194

I am looking for a Expert Coder for my website www.RuralStar.com (Using edirectory Software)

I need the following changes made:

1. My Articles Section to display Links in Articles. See this Article which wont display links: http://www.ruralstar.com/article/make_money_working_from_home.html

2. To fix Business listing durations from 30 days to 90 days

3. To change the size of the stupid eye sore Black advertising box from Black to White and for it to be able to fix a 160x600 adsense ad.

4. A section in my Events section where people can Attach Additional Files (PDF, DOC, TXT)

5. In the Members section I need a link done to the home page

6. In the classifieds section a price box where members can add their price instead of having to type it in.

7. Event listing durations to last 6 months instead on one month

8. To fix Classified listing durations from 30 days to 90 days

9. Possibly in the Classifieds Listings where the Member can edit the listing and have a "Sold It" box when the item has been sold.

Will edit this with addition requests as I find what I need fixed.

Please PM me for a Test account login details or use the edirectory demo version to see what I mean:
http://www.edirectory.com/directory_demo.php

I am also looking for someone to do a whole new site redesign to make it look better on the eye.

Here are some other edirectory websites:

www.azyokel.com

www.njhouseandhome.com

www.brentwoodyellowpages.com

www.oceancity.com/rentals

Coder is to provide proof of work, must have good knowledge of English and be reliable... and if you are good, I will use you again when new fixes are need.
