Negative registration cost. I don't even know what that word means. Even Google Don't give any results for it.

Time to take a break. Your approach is wrong and you are wasting your life and dollars until you totally revamp your thought process. I don't know what to say, other than, for now, you "don't get it". You joined in September, so you should be getting better at this. I haven't been near the appraisal thread for a few months, so I don't know how long this has been going on.

You are on the wrong track. Clear everything out of your head and start from square one. The odds of you hand-registering a name that is valuable is very close to zero, if not zero. Down the road you may be able to do it, but I would bet my life that if you don't change your thinking completely, it is going to be an unprofitable and unhappy ride for you. I don't like what I am seeing. You are missing the whole point.

Wake up and figure it out....and quick. Start with a few rules for now. 1) Buy Dotcom only, and 2) Do not hand register a name for 6 months. Find a forum somewhere, or a thread here, where there are multiple people bidding on a name that is fairly low value. Then place a bid when you see something you like. At least at that point you know that a few other people value the name.

Pretty dang harsh. ;)

But I dont disagree either.

This name could be very valuable, but it would take a full-blown company under it to make it work, ya know?

Don't have a heart attack, I just wanted an appraisal, this is an appraisal thread. I've said it before and I guess i'll say it again "Whodatfunnydog , there is not a name out there worth anything unless you own it http://www.dnforum.com/search.php?searchid=4938557
YOU ARE FUNNY stop wasting your time."

Thanks for the appraisal? LOL

It must get exhausting regging all those names simply because they are available or they are some cute sounding word you made up.

And it must get exhausting rushing back to the forum to start a new appraisal thread for each one.

Not really that exhausting if you enjoy doing it, I don't get tired too easy and I'm in pretty good shape, It might be exhausting for some... Thanks for your concern SB

You aren't adding anything of value here. And you are sucking out value, enjoyment, and knowledge that people get from the Appraisal Forum. I know this forum and others likes to let people like you run over it because it is people like you who buy useless products, names etc., but I find the whole thing disgraceful.

I have been banned numerous times here through the years, and the next time it happens I might have to step my game up to the next level and then we'll finally see what comes out when I really start pumping up the volume and exposing people.

You are just the unfortunate result of what happens when leaders in the domain industry don't stop people from ruining themselves. It is all done because registrars, parking companies, and forums, all make money when people are transacting in garbage names. I don't like your attitude, and I don't respect your knowledge. I just appraised a name yesterday at 10K or more, and I said I would buy it for that amount right now, so you need to at least get to the point in life where you are commenting on things that you have some sort of clue about.

It really is unfortunate to see this year after year after year. It is not like you joined this week.

The OP asked for the appraisal on the name and not himself.

So please stay on the topic and appraise the name, not the OP.

I see what you're going for here and yes, it's a very brandable name. It's fun to try to think outside the box and name a company that hasn't been created yet, but it's really tough to find someone that wants to use it. You would need to find an Encryption Firm that needs a domain. If you can find one that falls in love with it you may get a few hundred bucks or more. Odds of finding them that are willing to buy it is like 1 in 1000 though. You have much better odds of winning $500 on one pull of a $10 slot machine (about 50 to 1).

Have you had much luck selling to end users? If you plan to keep it start marketing it now, you have a year of dice rolling to see if you hit the mark.

From a bit of research it looks like lots of these encryption companies get bought out by the big players, so I'd say the field is growing.

"Twitter buys encryption firm to boost security "
"BlackBerry maker to acquire encryption firm"
"Trend Micro buys encryption firm"
"Salesforce.com Acquires Cloud Encryption Firm"

The point is that the name is worth zero now. That is what an appraisal is. So, down the road, maybe some company names themselves this, or maybe a new term is created in technology, and that actually happens often enough.

But the name is worth zero. That is why it was available to register. The OP doesn't yet have the skills to hand-register names that are magically worth more than he paid. He could acquire those skills if he stopped registering names and just read nonstop for about 6 months. If all he did was look at documented sales from threads he would learn a lot.

Someone needs to help these people, instead of encourages them to waste time. At some point the money runs out and the fun is over. If you get the domain game right it can be a skill that will likely last a lifetime, but if you never get to the point where you graduate from these types of names then it is just a waste of time.

I hope the OP gets shocked into his senses. I am spending time here, too. Valuable time. That is my choice. Occasional I have seen some people get away from this type of crap and that is very rewarding. Treating these names and the thought process that goes into dreaming them up with kid gloves only encourages this type of behavior. It is for his own good that he stops doing it.

That is my last word for the OP. Appraisal is still ZERO. That is what it is worth right now. There are no buyers for it.

When I bought my first names in 2005 I bought worse names than this.....I think. Close, anyways. The first names I bought were related to the Watergate Deep Throat story that broke in the spring of 2005. Some retired FBI agent named Mark Felt turned out to be the source. I said to someone that they should register his name. It was taken, but then I asked....how do you register names? Then I registered about $600 worth of worthless Watergate related names and I couldn't have been more excited.

I remember talking to a Go-Daddy rep and almost bragging about how my Watergate names were going to make me rich. Names like WatergateBooks.com, and a bunch of names far worse than that. The funny part is that I also registered CarlBernstein.com at the same time. He was the Bernstein, of Woodward and Bernstein. About a year later he came out with a book and went on his book tour. He bought the name for 2K. So, miraculously I turned a profit on that...lol. But they were absolutely terrible, and I did not "get it" at the time, that is for sure.

Well you have to ask yourself how are you going to sell this?
Who will you email and try to sell it to?
Very tough domain to sell.
I see a cyclical nature between short names and keyword names ...just keeps looping.
EncryptTech would be ok.
I say this is reg fee.

I used to be quite stubborn when people give me advice. Maybe sometimes I still am, but if I am reaching out for advice, I would hear what they have to say. WhoDatDog is just trying to look out for you.

I have been spending much of my free time reading appraisal threads here, and domain name sales records to learn and educate myself with as much as I can. Like WhoDatDog, Mark Talbot, and Ben42 said, it would have worth if a company pops up with that name. And that could happen, but I personally would not base my domaining career on speculative gambling. With that said, the domain name, at this moment, in my opinion, is worth $0.
