Today I bought a two-word .com and later found out the .net is owned by a very prominent master designer who's work is highly acknowledged by the U.S. Government. Both are generic words and not personal names or a TM.

It's been a longtime since I've contacted an enduser with either no response or a reply with no interest, and now I don't want to screw this up. So my question is, how would you approach this person to gain his/her interest in the .com?.

I need ideas from longtime domainers.

Mahalo. :)

The phone. Emails are easy to ignore and perhaps land in spam. Nearly all of my domain sales have started with a phone call.

I'm curious to know

Was the .com domain available when he registered the .net version of it? If you can look at the history of the domain ownership you'll be able to conclude whether it was or not. I ask this because, it could be a waste of time if for some reason he took the .com over the .net.. But then again, a highly acknowledged designer would atleast take both if both were available. But anyway

Any idea the amount of traffic this .com version is getting?
