"I just put up on eBay the domain name eRevealing.com $1 no reserve."

I'll offer that it's a bit awkward. "e" prefixes fell out of favour long ago. I think the "ing" is unnecessary ... and thus, like "eReveal.com" much better in this context. Hope that helps. Good Luck.

I appreciate your opinion Cool Host. I’m not so sure about the e being a hindrance. I think one of the most widely recognized internet names today is ebay.

The overture searches done in Nov. 2002 show revealing (2477) a little ahead of reveal (2109). I thought of it such as: revealing secrets... revealing lies… revealing girls in bikinis, etc.

Revealing.com has a presence on the web, while Reveal.com has just been sitting there waiting to be sold. I personally like the e in front since it's simple.

Thanks for your wishes of good luck… may it go beyond a dollar!

I will give you an appraisal that I think will come closest to the final price - $0. I don't think you will get a bid on it. The e prefix is a major negative. Ebay is a completely different animal. That is a name that took years and tens of thousands of dollars to brand. Sticking an e on the front of just any word does not add something - it detracts.

What commercial use would erevealing - which is not a word and has no meaning - have? None that I can think of, so what reason would anyone have to pay anything at all for this name?

You gave Overture numbers for revealing and reveal. Neither of those is erevealing which gets 0 - that means nobody is searching for this term. You can't put something different that the name you have in OT and say that shows you how many searches your name will get. One letter in a domain name often means the difference between a worthless name and a very valuable name. The Google result is even worse. Not a single page returns this term - that is almost impossible to do in Google!

Hope this info will help in evaluating your future domains. Good luck!

"e" does not seem appropriate for this name.
"e" is the symbol for (electronic) in the internet commerce world.

"e" does not work for just any old name at random.

biggedon - I'm an "E woman" ;)

DukeofEarl and Garyted51 - Thanks for your explanations. I think I'm beginning to understand better - I very much appreciate the time it took for you to clearly point out the drawbacks.
