Spanish domains. Are they worth regging?

If you can reg for free but have no control over the DNS, no url forwarding and it costs like 30 EU to transfer, should we even bother?

Thanks

Maybe I'm not getting the point... Are you talking about the free reg offer during November?

Hm. Is it the whole month of November? I thought it was just this one registrar that is doing this free .es domain for a few days.

Since you're local there, can you tell me more about it?

Offer is limited to November or until 30,000 domains. You can register and, in principle, transfer your domain for free at central registry nic.es and manage there your DNS. You could transfer next year for free to a cheaper registry (more than 10-12€ for domain would be expensive, at nic.es costs 32€ I think).

That's news to me. Last year a registered a few with the sunrise or whatever, and I just renewed them.

Ah, I didn't know that. Unfortunately, I already registered a bunch of .es domains at nominalia.

Is there a way to move them to a registrar with free dns/url forwarding?

You know Spanish, right? I could PM you a link explaining the process.

Well, very poor spanish.

I think nominalia charges to transfer, so I don't know what I can do with the ones I've already registered.

But, I'll appreciate the link if you can forward it to me.

Thanks

You're right floES, but I still don't know myself what "bonds with Spain" mean. Definitions are so vague... that could be good or bad...

I'm sending you a PM zzz.

Nobody knows (probably not even ESNIC). The problem is, you can be obliged to proof your bonds within a very short period of time and risk loosing it.

This is not a theoretical option, but PRACTICE!

I have no idea how strict ESNIC will judge your bonds, but if you have good .es names and/or invested time/work/money/... into your domains, you better get proofable (obvious) "bonds" with Spain!
