I've used Escrow.com a couple of times without problems.
But you should also look into Moniker, which is my favorite escrow service.
can you elaborate on that? How is it possible if escrow already secured the funds from the buyer? Have you had that happen?
I would use escrowdns.com rather than escrow.com.
I had a 5k transaction on escrow.com go south after I transferred the name to the buyer. During the 2 day review period (after they accepted the name), the buyer e-mailed me and said that they now wanted to go in another direction...mind you, this is after we had an agreement via e-mail, agreement via terms on escrow and their acceptance of the domain. Escrow did not blink and refunded the cash to the buyer (minus their fee of course)...I did get the name back, but I have had a very sour taste in my mouth re: escrow.com ever since. Escrow said I could go after the buyer legally and I can use the escrow.com agreement confirmation, but that they would do nothing else.
I am actually lucky The seller just changed his mind on an already completed deal and escrow.con facilitated it rather than the buyer actually try to scam me....because I feel escrow would have done nothing for me....except take their fee.
As I understand it, EscrowDNS actually takes the domain into their possession (like Sedo escrow & Moniker escrow)...Whereas, escrow.com doesn't.
......
The 'take possession' escrow services are therefore safer
