I gotta admit first time I tried www.estibot.com I thought it's just one of those crappy leapfish-like sites, but in fact the estimations are pretty close. So close that it even made me think it's not just a formula, but some kind of learning AI system

so try it out, What do you think?

I wonder who is the owner and how it works :)

Sex.info comes out at $46k, a big shock to those who have bid it up to $190k so far on Sedo!

Come on, as if an automated system could really accurately evaluate a domain's worth...then Cybertonic would be out of business :D

I used to use those auto-systems but its way too off the charts. As an art collector, I now use the same system as art appraisers do by using the past auction technique to evaluate domain prices.

So it estimated ShareNow.com at $652. That's 10% of what I sold it for :D

I think an AI based estimation soft, that can learn by having all the historical sales data and users input could evolve to be really good at it and at some point I was even considering to develop one, but couldn't find enough financial motivation to cover the development cost and time, although it's not as hard as one might think, will just take lots of time and data to make it work well :)

Come on, as if an automated system could really accurately evaluate a domain's worth...then Cybertonic would be out of business :D

no, accurately of course not, but the point is it uses overture, google, ppc ads and other things we, the humans, use when estimating a domain. One thing it can't take into consideration is that the price is basicly what the buyer is ready to pay for it :) but it's a helpful tool for the mechanical analysis

I don't think there is some learning AI system involved in this tool. Eventually, some very basic AI stuff.

The owner is Josh, a fellow domainer very active in NP.
For a long time he has been using our "domain score" service and (maybe inspired by this tool) launched around a month ago his free automated appraisal service.
It's not a competitive service as we have decided to only valuate names.
His appraisal is also based in past sales, and I agree to say it is an interesting tool giving reasonable estimates a lot of times.
Now keep in mind that even people can not do accurate appraisal and less everytime.
I hope Josh will continue improving his tool.

Does somebody want to buy denkend.com for USD 2,600 ?

Mensions.com - just $1000. I'll give it with 50% discount. ;)

And that's where such automata fail :) Nothing can compete with the human ingenuity in forming word composites to deliver a message, a product, a statement. It's entertaining to play with but far from a usable tool.
