Google news is full about the .eu start on 7th december. Just read all details on eurid.eu
Folks its happening! A lot of registrars posting news now.

so how does someone in the US pre register a .eu?

being a proud shedopean... and a european

if i pre-register a namewith one of the the preregsiters, being a non TM holder will I actually get anything or is it a waste of time...

I remember that there was already a long tread about this point.
you can easly setup a "limited" (LTD) Company in UK for only 100 dollar.
then you are able to register .eu domain names on this company.
for example www.yoffi.net are one of the cheapest for the UK companies.

thanks Iam UK citizen..so iam eligable to apply anyway.

but i thought that you had to have a TM or have business to do with your prereg name... maybe I need to read up on it more..

The following timetable will therefore apply:

• Sunrise 1 (Public Bodies and Trademark Holders) – Wednesday, December 7th 2005

• Sunrise 2 (Company Names and Other Prior Rights) – Tuesday, February 7th 2006

• ‘Land Rush’ (Unrestricted applications for European residence) - Friday, April 7th 2006

it reflects poorly on eurid that they allow this kind of solicitation. people who are not bona fide companies should have to wait until the landrush, otherwise what is the point of having a sunrise. Is it to give priority to speculators who are willing and able to waste money on trademarks?
