your domain is "holding redirection" correct? why don't you try and point it somewhere... the uniques should show up once you set that up, this happends all the time... don't know why!

It might be that something is calling a graphic that used to be under that domain. I believe Fabulous (arguably correctly) won't count that as a "unique" because there's been no actual visit i.e. nobody has seen whatever page/site is now at the domain name - instead, there's just been a failed call to load a graphic.

Bingo! Edwin is right.. :)

I have a domain that gets 40,000 uniques per day, but only 20 people a day see an actual page! :'(

1. Set up your own DNS servers
2. Trap 404 traffic via .htaccess
3. Redirect it to the landing page
4. Bingo, all traffic will see a page

Not sure about DS, but it works with Sedo.

That will work, although only for page hits not image hits :)

I sent you a PM Theo..

yep I have some of these as well that gets hundreds of IMPs per unique.. One lesson here is to always use a service like fabulous when verifying traffic (as opposed to sedo etc)..

It still won't work for images embedded into another page's code. I believe there's no way to handle those. So for instance if the domain used to be a "web counter" type site and everyone's loading the counter button off of it - or trying to - there will just be a broken graphic where the button would go, and you still won't get that visitor.

Yep. I use old hosted images (particularly buttons and banners) as advertising for my sites :) Even better if they are hyperlinked back to my site..
