I'm starting a fantasy sports site which will offer cash prizes to the winners. Their is a free registration available and a paid registration and both are entitled to win cash prizes but the paid registration will of course be eligible to win more money than the "Free" membership...

Does anyone see any legal problems with offering cash prizes to fantasy sports betting like this? Can anyone recommend a good lawyer to talk to regarding these laws ?

Absolutely......

You best way to learn is to rad the TOS for the major "cash" games. CDMsports.com, sportsline.com, antsports.com, wcoff.com. That will help you out.

It will be based on each states laws. You will generally see the following...

Void in the states of Montana, Vermont, Iowa, Arizona, Arkansas, Louisiana, and North Dakota, and elsewhere where prohibited or regulated by law.

Those states view it as gambling. You really need to contact a lawyer and pay alot of money to make sure you are covered.
