I don't know but scammers have tried to launder domain names there lately.
It was too difficult over here :)

Not sure why you said hmmmmmmmm since the vast majority of their sales I believe are developed domains, with domain names only looking like a fraction of website sales. The information to provide for domain only sales is far less vs a site.

The #1 Marketplace for Buying and Selling Websites

Flippa is the world’s biggest marketplace for buying and selling websites.

More than 4,000 bids for websites are placed each week.

Over $50,000,000 in websites sold since we started.

Website listings

Must-have information:
•
URL and establishment date

•
revenue figures or estimates (you can claim zero revenue if you like)

•
average unique visitor and page view totals per month

•
whether you want to sell at public auction or private sale

•
listing title, listing duration and a short description of the site

•
descriptions of your revenue and traffic to accompany the listing

•
a reserve price if you're selling at auction

•
a starting price

•
payment methods you'll accept: escrow, credit card, electronic transfer and more

•
who'll pay the sale success fee

Nice-to-have information:
•
whether the content is unique

•
whether the design is unique

•
monetization methods you've used

•
tags to make it easy for buyers to find your listing

•
a Buy It Now price if you're selling at auction, and you're happy to sell the property on the spot for a given price

Exactly. And most of the "verified" claims are obvious cooked up books. Shame we don't hear from the duped buyers later on.

I always have been under the impression that the sites were very average and sold in inflated prices.
I mean, anyone with half a brain can register a crap domain, set up wordpress or a forum, or a classifieds script and here you go.
But you aren't selling anything unique really.
If the business model works for Flippa good for them.

I have gone before, and even today after reading this thread just to see.

The place just gives me the immediate impression of a link farm or a yahoo style spammed-up advertising forum.

I just dont like the feel I get there. I wont sign up. Kinda feels creepy.

Really? That's odd since I don't see any paid advertising or outside links on the site. In fact, it's nice to see a website without advertising and also unusual.

A month old site with a lousy domain name should say "stay away". There are a few good sites for sale but generally garbage as far as I can see.

One of the mods here is playing hide and seek deleting repeatedly my posts about Latona's and Flippa's marketplace.

Major flaws with Flippa: They don't take down TM listings > https://flippa.com/2671287-a-step-b...-software-site-outstanding-graphics-pays-good
Guy registered the domain on Nov. 29 and trying to sell it on Flippa.

---------- Post added at 10:09 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:56 PM ----------

Reported the listing and got this reply:
timatflippa, Dec-07 02:08 pm (EST):Thanks for contacting Flippa Customer Support.
Thanks for reporting this to us - however we often have listings using the word 'iphone'
you can take a look here flippa.com/buy/search?q=iphone

We are happy to take it down if Apple contacts us.
Please let us know if you need further information or assistance.
Kind Regards,
Flippa Customer Support.

One more epic "for sale" website in flippa:
http://by.vg/Ghxcn

Seller quotes:
$8700 Profit, $142000 in Sales, #1 Google Rank, Amazon Aff, Fully Automated

This is a website "selling" kindle gift cards using amazon's api. At the same time Amazon TOS strictly forbids any product in affiliates domain url, so do you want to know the domain for sale?
kindlegiftcards.org :D

In addition to all this I believe using kindle in any domain is like asking for trouble since owner could get sued or website o[erations ceased since its a well known trademark which is used by 3rd party.

Read this comment which was posted in kindlegiftcards.org sale page @flippa by user Premium Advertisement:

I just called Amazon Associates Center today and have been notified that this website you are selling is against their terms of service and your affiliate account has a chance of being terminated for using "Kindle" in your domain name. I advise any buyer to stay away and to you Jay, to proceed with caution. Not only is this against their terms of service, but also illegal and can be considered a thread in terms of being sued or ceased.

Just a fair warning to any respective buyer and of course the seller.

There are plenty of websites that fall into the same category and yet still sold without flippa doing anything about it. I dont believe this will last for long, either flippa will have to change its business model or will get six feet under ground.
