Just to give you a tiny example of the power of .com, do you know how a lot of elderly people refer to the internet?...... They call it the "dot com thing", not the "dot net", the "dot us", or anything else.

The only thing is, if you are naming a company, do not include "dot com" in its name -- that is bad.

I think you are extremely confused here, we are talking domain names here, not company names. Just give me an example of a better and more valuable TLD.

The reason a company should not include .com it its official name, IS because it implies the company is an "internet only" company and not because the TLD is a failure.

EVERY big company out there has a .com web site, example:
dell.com
ibm.com
microsoft.com
pg.com
apple.com
ford.com
etc................
