I'll be honest, I don't think it's worth much more than the registration fee ... as a 'stand alone' .NET domain. However, if you should decide to someday develop it, like a free music site, something of that nature you could do well.

14,537 Overture searches.

Yes it is a .net but a good one. Money maker.

Now, is that number at Overture as "freesongs.net" or "freesongs" or "free-songs" or "free songs"??? Options - please help me (us) figure this Overture fetish thing out. Once informed, I'd be glad to re-visit here. Thanks you guys! :)

Hi,

I believe this is for the search term "free songs". Overture also seems to drop the "s" often in its results, not sure why.

Exactly.
They combine singular and plural in their search phrases.
The result comes as singular only.

Awesome, thanks Tippy! So, "free_songs" gets 14,000 whatever "hits" at Overture. OK. Now, how do we ALL translate that into re-sale $$'s for the .COM?? Is it then a %'s for the .NET?? What about that_space_in the middle in doing the Overture search. Do we discount for that lack of space in the domain. Hmmmm. I think I'm missing something ... am I, Mike??
Thanks to all.

That space in the middle constitutes the different terms being searched. If you want the search for the actual url, type in the name .com, etc. and see if it gets hits which is something more to say if it gets rings like that b/c someone actually looked for the domain itself.

THANK YOU, Mythios! So, what you're saying is that we need to compare 'apples to apples', yes? If one were to type in "freesongs.net" in Oveture how many hits would it receive? Then, using the very popular Overture Fetish Valuation Model (OFVM) ... how much would it likely be worth in re-sale $$'s?? Appreciate your time on this, I'm slow on the uptake.

You don't have to be sarcastic CoolHost. You have a good point,
but it doesn't mean its not subject to discussion.

Overture counts SEARCH phrases, not address type-ins.
If you can manage that your phrase (not only in the name itself, as you know) comes above competition than you are on the winning side.

There's no way--at least that I know of--to tell how the returns on Overture relay into $$, but it is nice to know that others (the more the better) are looking up the same terms you are and even better if they are typing in the actual url, which means there is at the very least minimal interest in the name and extension. Toy around with it and you'll find it a useful tool when doing name searches.

Options, Mythios - THANK YOU so much! I was in no way trying to be sarcastic, in fact just the opposite. Dead serious. Promise. Thanks for the feedback.
Also, an apology to thread-starter UpdateSports for messing up the posts. I have begun an "Overture Fetish Valuation Model" (OFVM) discussion thread in another, more relevant area.
Thanks again,
Meg

CoolHost, my sincere apology if I was wrong about your attitude.
Cheers.

Overture counts the word "free songs" and "free song" as the same word, so you only need one ad for both words but with espotting you have to place two ads to use both word with or without the "s".

I think overture is just saving space on its server :rolleyes:

Good info, thanks ZAQ. No worries, too, Options.
Please see my "OFVM" thread in the other section ... THANKS.
