From wikipedia

Future Media Architects (FMA) is an internet development company which was launched in 2002.

The main purpose of the company is to aquire and park internet domains. It began acquiring domain names shortly after the domain names market crash in 2000, 2 years later it was officialy announced as a company.

The company's inventory of domain names was estimated to be more than 120,000 domain names. It is known for rejecting all offers to buy any of its domain names.

It purchased a major ICANN-approved domain name registrar which was located on i.net (currently offline).

From me

How were they allowed to do this? They have a monopoly on domain names. The company's purposes seems to just have been to fund the founder from parking.

I emailed them asking to purchase a domain, and of course, I was blocked. That's how I found out about them.

Anyone care to give me the history lesson I slept through?

I'm not bothered about parking, or that they owned a domain I wanted. I just can't believe it's 120,000.

For 10 years, with no one allowed to make an offer. Unethical.

If anything the fact that they warehouse domains and run a registrar might be a conflict of interest but money rules everything in this biz.

Domains are virtual real estate, and their large holdings do not constitute a monopoly any more than a given real estate investment trust has a monopoly on major metropolitan office buildings. It's simple: they got there first. They also, despite your claims, to develop sites including DJ.net, MP3.tv and others. Welcome to the industry: it's still an exciting investment opportunity if you do your research; I suggest you read through the past posts on this board as well as DNJournal.com for background.

Since when is vertical integration a conflict of interest? :?:

FMA is run by Elequa (Thunayan) and he owns i.net too. It's a private registrar (just for his own purpose, it does not offers domains registration to the public at large).

My advice would be, if you don't have a lot of money and a lot of time and if you don't mind being crushed time and time again by those who "got there first" and have more money than you can ever dream of, try something else.

There are a large number of people here wasting their time thinking because they read an article about how some domain sold for a million bucks, they can do it too but 99.999999% of the time, they won't...like lemmings leaping to their death.

Good for them...I applaud anyone who had the foresight to reg. premium names when they could be had for reg. fee or a bit above...best of luck to them..it's not like they went to the local convenience store and purchased a quick-pick lottery ticket, they must have spent many hours doing research, etc. I am weary of people calling domainers cybersquatters instead of looking at it as a business, which requires hours of research and hard work, just as any other business, in order to be successful, would.

Well I know Thunayan very well and he has done nothing unethical he also is very proud he has never paid over $150,000 for any single domain. He one time he told me he bought in bulk 50 LLL.com for $99 a piece the guy came back 6 months later demanding he resell them back to him.

Domains are a hobby as his family is a part of just about every major industry in Kuwait Construction, Automotive,Banking, Airlines and many more

It is completely Legal and ethical.
They can do whatever they want with their domain or domains.
T is probably one of the smartest domainers out there and very well respected in the industry, what he and his company do or dont do with their domain names is non of our business and frankly it is their perogative.

It is far more than 120,000.
As far as making an offer you can..it just wont be heard :)
