I just registered g2x.org and g2x.us, do you think they're worth anything? I thought of g2x as "go to X." The owner of g2x.net has it listed on Sedo for $4188, and the owner of g2x.info has it listed on Sedo for $484. g2x.com goes to some data company called "Navagate." They registered it in 2006, but it was original registered in 1999.

I don't see any value in these.

I agree. These aren't worth anything. Just because the .net and .info has it "listed" as a certain price, it doesn't mean that it is worth that. Once they actually make a sell at those listed prices, then maybe you can speculate what you have. The .us is not worth anything and really neither is the .org. My suggestion to you is to stick to .com. It will be harder to find but well worth the hard work & research. Otherwise, you will continue to waste your money and learn the hard way...

FYI.. don't take things so seriously in here. People will give you a hard time if you let them. You will have to grow a thick skin if you want to make it as a domainer. You going to react this way when you try to sell to a client?

As for your appraisal, I disagree. I think I should be able to get at least $20 for the two domains if I advertise enough, which is a 70% profit. "g2x" is easily pronounced shorthand for "go to a location."

You are entitled to disagree. However, you did ask for an appraisal and I gave you one. "g2x" has a local exact search result of 140 and CPC is $0.57. This is more than what I would have guessed. Regardless, according to my own calculations I use to evaluate a domain, g2x.org at the MOST is worth $7.98 and g2x.us is less. If you had the .com, I would have evaluated it to be about $80. This is just based on raw data.. however, it could be worth more based on speculation...

Thank you, that is much more useful information. I paid $7.67 for the .org and $3.99 for the .us, so if you're right these will not be total losses. I've contacted the owner of G2X.com and offered him both domains for $25. Hopefully I can just get rid of them.

Evidently, the G2X is a GPS device for motorcross bikes. I may have been premature in offering to sell these domains for $25.

Now you are getting into speculation.... however, take to heart my advice about buying non .com names. They just aren't worth much. The .org extension is for organizations such as charities, non-profits and such... you will not see a commercial business using it. As for .us, it isn't used much either and is considered much lesser of a domain name. Also, another bit of advice.. I don't know if G2X from RacePack is trademarked but I would make sure you don't mess around with that or they can take it from you.. ... Good luck.

.org domains are not without value. The TLD includes famous sites such as wordpress.org and wikipedia.org, both of which are charitable but have for-profit arms (i.e. Automattic and Wikimedia). I think the true value of .org and .us is in selling the domains to the owner of the .com... but owning the .com is always better.

G2X.com has been owned by a computer company called Navagate since 2006... I don't think there will be trademark issues.

Please refrain from off-topic comments.

As for the domains, if you look at 3character.com's price guide:

http://3character.com/priceguide.html

You'll see LNL.org and LNL.us are both valued at reg fee. (Keep in mind, this is the "minimum wholesale price" based on recent sales - not all similar domains will be worth that). Add in their prices seem to be rather optimistic compared to sales.

As for the GPS - it's a relatively small niche (compared to many others - yes. motocross is a big sport but it's still not as big as niches like real estate and insurance). The domains would also be limited to selling jut the GPS items and their accessories.

BUT - you now risk the chances of infringing on a trademark on G2X:

http://tess2.uspto.gov/bin/showfield?f=doc&state=4006:geno9q.2.2

IC 009. US 021 023 026 036 038. G & S: Computerized data system for motor vehicles and watercraft, namely, an electronic data acquisition system composed primarily of a data logger device with two G-force meters, a removable 128 megabyte compact flash card, a serial communications cable, power and rpm cables, and a global positioning system antenna and cable for interacting with global positioning system satellite technology in order to monitor and record motor vehicle and watercraft performance data parameters. FIRST USE: 20050414. FIRST USE IN COMMERCE: 20050414
So, you have a great domain for this product line (and not really anything else) but by using it that way you open yourself up to a legal nightmare. IMO - not worth the hassle. It seems like you registered the domains (so they cost you what, $12?). If you can offload them cheap, then you're lucky but attempting to sell them is a red flag (to the TM holder) that you're trying to profit off of their trademark / work.

Well, the owners of two other g2x domains are trying to sell them for high prices on Sedo, so I don't think I am raising any red flags. Besides, the trademark appears to be on a stylized logo with the letter X appearing in a "ragged right slanted slashing font," so I think I'll be fine as long as I don't use their logo or mention their products.

There are some really bad LNL.org domains like q0v.org or b1d.org which don't mean anything, but I think this one is better. However, I definitely won't renew either domain.

Just because a company hasn't enforced their trademark rights yet doesn't mean they won't.

Considering that G2X is not the name of a company and the company that makes the G2X GPS system does not even own G2X.com, I don't think that's worth worrying about.

That's not helpful.
...and, when they do comment it is/is not helpful?

Zilch. Nada. Goose egg.

Just because something is available to reg does not mean you have to reg it.

Just because a company/product/tm/is available to reg does not mean it should be regged.

Just because one idiot is selling something for xxxx and an alternative is available to reg does not mean either one is valuable.

And rather than being a member here and posting a grand total of 24 times in a 2 year period, that would have been a good time (and plenty of time) to learn and educate yourself rather than saying "I disagree" simply for the sake of disagreeing with your priceless domains.

As for you selling for 20 bucks and making a 70% profit "if I advertise enough", yeah...good luck with that.

g2x does not imply nor does it mean or is it shorthand for go to location. GoToLocation means go to location.

I do not want to read any more comments from you.
Glad to see your 25th comment in 2 years was another disagreement on your precious investment.

You justify in your head all you want why they are so valuable, meaningful, and precious when everyone else disagrees with your assessment.

By the way, don't ask for appraisals if you don't want them.

Better yet, pay $19.95 x 2 to have them "professional appraised". There are plenty of sites out there that are happy to part a fool and his money...again.

Remember, don't read these comments.

You don't understand. I don't want you POSTING any more comments here. It's my thread. I came here expecting to receive appraisals explaining WHY the domain isn't valuable, not to be insulted. You don't know anything about me, so don't pretend to.

A good appraisal would be "This domain isn't valuable because it has a number in it" or "This domain would be worth something as .com, but not .org." For someone who has made 10,000+ posts, you sure are rude. Does that fulfill a need for you? Don't answer here, because I will only accept PMs from you.

If you know the value then there is no need to ask for appraisal.
