Years (and years) ago I started a new RPG system. It came, I did a lot of work in high school, some in college and then disappeared in the back of all my RPG stuff. At one point I even started to write a novel on it.

Recently I've been feeling it call to me so I've been thinking of putting up a web site for it (no really good domains but I can think of other domains).

It's very similar to AD&D (heh, what RPG isn't?) but with some significant differences. So, I've been wondering, are table top RPGs still popular or have they gone the way of the woolly mammoth due to MMORPGs such as EQ, WOW, and LotRO?

It would take a bit of my time for this (or not if I wanted to continue development slowly).

It can still kick off...especially if it can influence developers to make an MMORPG about it. ;) I'd say go for it bubba.

Yeah I say don't worry about it. There will always be a market for table top RPGs. It all depends on how good your idea is.

Thank you for the responses - it's consistent with responses I got on another forum.

My question is:

I had a great name for the system but 7-8 years after I worked on the system a major motion picture came out with the same name. Obviously the .com is taken but (name)rpg.com is not taken. It would have NOTHING to do with the picture (except things like houses, humans, etc..) but any kind of TM infringement claims like this would wreak havoc (LotR could sue Star Wars, etc..).

Would registering (name)rpg.com be safe especially with the usage? It would be obvious that it is not related to the film (even though the film could be an RPG).
