I always embrace new technology with caution. I agree that we do need some check on them, esp. when they are going to overtake the "most evil enpire on earth" :-D (a.k.a. Microsoft) .Still I embrace it. ;)

@msn.com email accounts are now at 2 gigs standard. (This happened shortly after gmail was introduced!)

Dem. Microwaves? You mean they actually came up with something new to cook Democrats in? Just like the crooks -er, cooks- do on FOX tv's new reality-cooking show "O'Reilly Fried Chickens", but then to be used in the safety of one's own home!? Amazing!

Anyway, is there a Rep. version as well? As I may be interested in one of those! :-D

Of course, after that time-machine from Sears I've been wanting for a while now.

Cheers!
Rob

to be!

come on lets look at this:
1) they could easily put gmail top of the SERPs for any term they like
2) FREE accounts have been sold on for cash already
3) you are asking whether gmail would survive before it has been properly released officially... the media frenzy surrounding gmail will make them VERY VERY big

as for @msn.com addresses... do they provide as much features in comparison to google? i love the 'conversation-style' message strings by gmail, and thats just to name one.

google are obviously overselling their servers... so are msn. they are counting on people never meeting the 1GB limit... and i doubt anybody ever will... i especially couldnt cope with over 300,000 email addresses in my account... and from what i have seen gmail is capable of sorting this amount of messages out effectively.

gmail has been available to a limited few and for just a short period of time... yet i see more gmail addresses than msn addresses being handed out. why? because gmail have cleverly made it a privelege to have a gmail account.

and one more thing... the way to succeed through the net is through the webmasters (without them, end users wouldnt know about anything), and google is widespread through webmasters - this is the one thing that i dont know how google has controlled, but i can guarantee you that it was their intention.

The question with Gmail is not if it will survive, we all know it will without a problem for years at least. The question is our privacy as a user. Google has made it clear that even after you delete your emails they may remain on the Google server where Google can read them at any time.

Their way of delivering ads to you means a script that pulls words from your email, this can easily be used to read your emails before you ever do. The worst of this is ... when you sign up for Gmail, you agree to ALL of this. Now I do use gmail but only for petty stuff, I would never use the service for stuff I would not want seen by Joe, Dick, or Bob at the Google offices.

I don't think this is right. MSN increased free storage to 200mb and they offer 2igs for a fee.

The 2gig msn mail service "was" partly true. There was a bug if making a new account with the service and using the MSN explorer to do so. Microsoft did catch on to this flaw VERY fast and fixed it. So yes now at this point you cannot get 2gig accounts free. ;)

They are smart, but they work in too much FAD technology, eventually run out of these quick buck idea's and they'll fail to meet street estimates and the stock will plummet off the earth.

Let's look at their services...

Gmail Beta? pfft, cheap way to get you to tell everyone about it
and create account after account and give to friends.

Google adwords?
Gee lets get paid 2.00 a day for 20,000 page views.
Meanwhile, Google gets a free listing on every moron who wants the 2 bucks cuz they can't sell their own services. Ughm if i go to google I gotta pay some 20k in advertising for some $2,000 return and hopes of continued business... Which of course never happens.

Sorry Google, you have to pay me $2500.00/m minimum to get your little logo on my site.. Others may/will finally see the light of day on this.

How long will advertisers continue to pay for bot clicks when all these ads are all over the world on no named sites, I for one stopped advertising on google, as every week it gets far worse and worse.

So where is Googles revenue gonna come from then? Saturated worthless bot clicking traffic, is not going to last much longer

Is scouring your emails and placing ads related to the email? pfft
Aint noone gonna click that shit
