.in prices were already depressed, this will only sink them further, government interference will keep dollars away from this extension...

I believe the InRegistry stopped the Godaddy .in auctions as part of a standing "registrars can't resell" rule -- only the enforcement is new. Separating registrars from the aftermarket seems like a great thing for domain investors. Of course, if there was enough money in the tld, registrars would find ways to shuffle the deck and have close "partners" do the aftermarket work for them.

So what's the deal ?
That registrars cannot resell, or that .in domains may be bought for the purpose of resale ?

So in the frame of time of new tld's, and custom tld's,.... Who cares anymore??

GoDaddy obviously doesnt think they can make any money off it. Why should anyone else?

Established tlds may gain credibility with the onslaught of "ad hoc" top level domains -- .com will probably be the prime beneficiary. Nevertheless, people will still trade in a domain aftermarket. Concerning .in, I'm not sure Godaddy (still unprofitable?) is the benchmark to measure business acumen; see: canceled IPO; elephant shooting controversy; SOPA support backlash; etc.
