I Thought GoDaddy only accepted .com and .net backorders. One of the top .ORG drops today was Face.org and it was caught by WildWest (GoDaddy sister company). What's the deal?

Sir Duke,

I noticed the same thing. So, a couple minutes ago, I tried to put one on an .org. And, it said "only .Com and .Net".

I guess once WLS comes on board they will switch to .org.

Yeah, it was probably an insider capture. Registrars have been bending the rules to ICANN's saintly expectations for too long.

Bring on the WLS!

The WLS would not have any affect on someone at GoDaddy grabbing Face.org.

Maybe they are testing .org backorders.

Maybe they are testing their scripts for .org, or someone simply hand regged these names. With .org it is more likely than with .com and .net names.

Looks as though they are testing.

DomainAlert.com redirects to godaddy.com The registrant has a godaddy email address. I just spoke with a contact at godaddy, and he said that an actual godaddy employee registered the name himself manually, and they have no plans currently on implementing .org catches in the backorder system.

Maybe we should all go work for a registry?

Sid, thank you for the GoDaddy update.

Every job has to have some fringe benefits. That's the fringe benefit for working at GoDaddy.

However, I am sure if that employee is buying a lot of domains. His/hers fingers will be slapped. Except if it is the owner!

Manually my ass. You can't beat NameWinner and Pool on names like face.org by hand. Heck, you can't even beat them on names like those with a script using eNom's API. Believe me, I've tried.

I lost out to them... Mighty Pool looses to little GoDaddy.... how can that be? Godaddy would routinely miss out to NW on $8.75 names! Something is up.

Godaddy is new, so they are still tweaking their scripts, and actually 2 registrars in one, but the question is, buy backorders, when wls may be live soon.

Now, this is the difference in being a team player and cut throat business person.

GoDaddy is experimenting with catching .orgs during drop time.
Domainut, they were giving you mis-information so it would not be released to their competitors.

Face.org and Brooms.org re-dropped today. I didn't realize it until I looked in my NW billings for today. It wasn't there an hour ago. And, I also checked Face.org and it was picked up by another registrar. Unfortunately, I had removed Face from my NW watchlist.

Today, GoDaddy grabbed utl.org and spg.org.

So, they are experimenting.
