Those who have been around a while remember the Afilias fiasco with .INFO, when about 200 of the top generic 1-word .INFO domains were slipped into the pockets of friends of execs at Afilias in violation of ICANN rules and in violation of the sunrise trademark process.
This month, over 11 years later, they are allowing Godaddy to auction them off, and the sale is going well with many of the domains selling in the $5,000 - $10,000 range each.
My question: WHERE is that money going? Do the violators get paid for the violations? I see no mention of charity or any other destination of the money of the auction proceeds.
