Yarr,

Hey guys;

I am curious as to how GoDaddy ranks for backordering. I've heard it's pretty good, but I have heard Pool is the best. Anyhoo, I am curious as to how good/bad GoDaddy's backordering system is. Please leave some reviews, pros, and cons for me. Would be very helpful - Im pretty curious.

Thanks,
Andy

I'm not sure if I like it or not. Whenever I try and backorder a domain that is pending delete sometimes it says it isn't available for backordering, but I see people at pool.com or another service winning it later.

GoDaddy only uses themselves and one or two other registrars to catch names. It can't really compete with Pool or Enom IMHO. If I have domains requested at both Enom and GoDaddy I find that Enom will get the domain 9 times for every one time that GoDaddy gets one.

Same thing happens to me, over 80% of the domains I try to backorder say that they are not available, but have no problems when I try at Pool or Snap.

And of all the domains I have backordered at Godaddy, not even one was catched.

Its just because GoDaddy doesn't follow the auction model. It only takes one backorder per domain so that there is no auction afterwards. So if you are the first one to place a backorder at GoDaddy for a domain, no one else will be able to backorder it there.

I locked into about 15 drops with godaddy I didn't get one of them I wondered If I was getting hosed so I picked a name no one would ever pick and got it. They just can't compete with the good names. A agree with this statement. "Don't waste your money".

GoDaddy have beet Pool, SnapNames and eNom for me - true that is rare - but I do not recomend ignoreing them for any domainer especialy since they cost less than $9 a shot - you might lose, just try again for free :)

9$ where is this...not on my godaddy! btw- they have got 2/3 for me...one was WinRealBig.com, alot of people had backordered it a few places....funny thing is I was the ORIGINAL owner and sold it for $1250 and the company that bought it (a big credit card issuer) accidently let it drop, and I got it back! how funny is that? Then I resold it in an auction on ebay that totalled 2500!

To get the $8.95 drop price, you have to pay a $29.95/month fee,
and pay each $8.95 in advance. However, if you 'miss' the drop,
the $8.95 credit is reallocatable to another name.

GoDaddy are excellent for names that Pool etc. don't go for.
However, for REALLY popular names .. forget it. Statistically,
it's possible to get (non-Netsol) top names through GoDaddy,
but not likely due to their relatively few 'grabbing' registrars
compared to Pool.

At least with GoDaddy, if you DO pick up a drop, the registrar
is GoDaddy, not some tin shed in Mongolia ...
