GoDaddy did it again !

Well i am fuming !

I did an availability check before attempting to register a domain.. and it said
available

great..

so i tried another registrar to make sure..
domain still available so i went back to godaddy and ordered it

i then checked availability again and it said unavailable.

great

i then went to www.whois.eu and did a whois.. there is a pending application althought it has expired

i contacted the eu registry

they said that there were over 15 people in front of me for this name
& they hadn't even recieved my application from godaddy

i contacted godaddy and they said
"we cant see a problem with the registration"

so basically ive paid $19.99 for a domain i probably wont get.

if it said unavailable when i checked availability i wouldnt have minded but its the fact it showed unavailable after i bought it and then find out i wont get it what is ******* me off

did a charge show up on your credit card account yet? I think they only charge if the .eu registration goes through.

Godaddy is notorious for showing names available that are not available.... 3 years ago I thought I was about to reg Italy.com ... to my dismay it had been registered long before... go figure... for .eu names until the landrush, you're best sticking with eurodns or the sponsoring registry itself .

yee, godaddy sucks, i landrushed sex.eu and creditcard.eu and many other premiums "available" eu's, CCard charged and gone overdraw..!

can hardly blame GD for that - its your responsibility to look after your finances. Seeing as you are a member on dnforum... you had a wealth of information at your finger tips to research .eu and indeed your registrar of choice!

No one to blame but yourself IMHO!

It seems godaddy whois is either buggy or not real-time. Better check with Enom or Moniker, so you get accurate results.

Confirmed over the phone, GD had a technical difficulties during the EU registration. The biggest clown in the house, lost all domains with them...

I am in constant comunication with GoDaddy. They tell me now that there is a REFUND FEE of 25 EUROS / domain.
So for a 14$ domain, there is a 25*1.18=29.5 FEE.
What do you understand of this?
I am prepared to sue them.

I bet it was in the TOS..That way after refunds, they still make almost 10 euros per order..I guess its an "admin" fee :greenrolleyes:

Against my preference, my partner in the UK used GD for .eu preorders. He didn't get any of the names, and they fully charged him a few days ago. He said he called about the charges and they told him about how they're "still trying" to get the names for him (even though the domains are registered) and mentioned a fee of 25e per refund.

Hmm, no fees applied... I spoke with 3 reps so far. But that's not sure 100%.
I want to see my money back, then I will be happy.

Let's hope they will not change the TOS, before they start refunding people.
Anyone had a refund for their non-registred domains?
I called several times and nobody knows what's going on... they always give me bullshit answers.

There is however an interesting point few reps told me about: They say that GoDaddy will fight back to get some of the domains they lost to other registrars. We are talking millions of dollars loss for GD, so I think they will not let it go easy.
However, EU rule is clear: first come first served. So how GD will be able to compare time stamps, if they didn't even sent their applications on time? GD says they do a timestamp check for each domain...

That give us the prognosis: 1-2 months before we see our money back.
I need you guys to comment in this issue... I want my 2 grands back and fast.
