Just got the following email from GoDaddy:

"An Offer has been made for your Domain Name!
Domain: ...
Claim ID: ...
Dear Sir or Madam,
A GoDaddy.com customer has an immediate interest in purchasing the domain <...>! You are being contacted because your email address is listed as the registrant/administrative contact for <...>."

Nothing special, but the domain name was just registered (Creation Date: 11-aug-2012) and it is NOT registered with GoDaddy.
According to DomainBuy service terms, the seller must transfer the domain name to GoDaddy registrar as a part of the sale process.
Because of 60 days registry transfer lock, this domain name simply cannot be sold through GoDaddy domainbuy service at this time.

Why did you charge your customer for the DomainBuy service for this domain name to begin with? Isn't it obvious that this transaction would NOT happen regardless of the current owners intention to sell (or not to sell)? GoDaddy knew (or at least should have known) that the sale would not happen!

The buyer paid GD a flat fee of $69 (and 10% of the sale price to be paid by him later) to get his DomainBuy process started, so he has an incentive to open an account wherever you have the domain, if GD allows it. If GD doesn't allow this then I'd hope the poor guy gets refunded since it's Go Daddy's fault their DomainBuy team didn't check this. GD allows domains to be listed with GD Auctions regardless of where they're registred, and DomainBuy also advertises it can be used to buy domains registered elsewhere. Obviously the buyer didn't know he could've contacted you using the WHOIS.

Interesting situation, it never happened to me, let's see what GD ends up doing. Another option is for GD to hang on to they guy's money until the name is free to be transferred to GD. If you got a good price/solid starting offer then try to work it out w/DomainBuy and tell them you're flexible
