My main account has been at enom for 6-7 years now, and while i've had a goddaddy account most of that same time all the names that are not for sale are at enom, save 3-4. With the latest icann price increases I can now get names cheaper at godaddy even though I have the "super duper" enom account.

I like the checkout process and the pushing at enom so much better.

I'm starting to find my website clients buy godaddy names more quickly.

is it finally time to say good bye to enom? Think I could get some great transfer coupons over the next year? I mean if i could find $6 transfers over the next year that would save me $300 or so, not a huge amount, but $300 is $300....

a registrar poem...

i wouldn't transfer a domain to gd

even

if it was free!

and if your clients like gd names,

i have a few still there

which you can sell for me

then once and for all

i'll be done with gd

-finally-

imo...

Well after so many years I have had problems with both of them, some of my support at both has been laughable at times, but of course it wasnt funny to me at the time. I guess I have about 50 names at godaddy right now, but mostly .infos for obvious reasons.

I hate transfers and not real fund of godaddy's set up, but of course enom has its faults.

Whats your favorite register?

Whats your favorite register?

i'm old school and i like a no-frills, no-add-on's interface where i can speed thru the registration process.

i've done speed tests with gd vs enom several times and if both of us were trying to reg the same domain....you at gd and me at enom.

you'd NEVER win

my fave five are...

enom
fab
namecheap
moniker

and
eurodns for cctld's

imo...

I guess thats my thing, i just like enom better, but like I said after 7 years i've surely had issues with them at times, especially with new roll outs and new rules, and the fact they changed to enomcentral for free accounts and people see the $29 price....and and.

I'm not so much in the domain business or after market. Namecheap my real old account there has a price near $10 and moniker courted me for a while but we went round and round.

Thanks for the thoughts....others?

I no longer recommend Enom.

I have a lot of domains there, but the problem is they screw people over who are new customers. If you sell someone a domain, and suggest they get an account at enom, their renewal price is $29.95. Why would anyone pay that when you can register domains for $8 or less, anytime, at Moniker or Godaddy?

I emailed Enom several times this week, asking to help someone who I had just transferred a domain to, and they refuse to help. Its just amazing to me.

I see no reason to recommend enom to anyone. If i sell a domain now that I have at enom I will recommend they transfer it out.

Godaddy has a lot of pro and con but I have the bulk of my domains there, and will continue to do so. At least with godaddy they will work with you, will give you help and discounts depending on the situation. They have helped me a lot there. The godaddy interface is very slow, if you have a lot of domains, that is my main issue there. They are so big, it must be a difficult thing to manage.

If you sell a domain you have at godaddy, most people have an account so its an easy push, and its easy to find coupon codes online to get a good price. Right now, .com renewal at godaddy is typicall 7.49 with a coupon. Hard to beat that.

Its unfortunate, because enom has a fast and simple user interface, and they have upgraded their security which is a good thing. I like the enom user interface the best of any registrar. But enom is not flexible on pricing, and pricing is a major issue for people. I have been with them for many many years, almost since the dawn of the internet, and they wont do a simple favor for a new referred customer. In a free market this is not a good thing.

typically, when i sell a domain that's at enom to someone who doesn't already have one (an account), i will offer to "create" one for them at discount price.

this way if they choose to keep the domain there, i can get commissions on the renewals or additional registrations, hosting or other services they purchase

for end-users, i'm not trying to let them know anything about reselling, reseller fee's or rates.

as for paying high reg fee's, there are still plenty of companies and individuals who continue to pay the $35 fee at netsol

and they don't even offer free services like "url redirect".

I agree with Big.

I used both registrar Enom and Godaddy since I conduct business in domain names.

I prefer Enom for easy push and management of domain names.
I use Godaddy because of auction.

I have other accounts in different registrar, fab, moniker, name, etc.

I have a super reseller from them. I have big network of resellers through NeedName.com Enom Technology Partner and with godaddy.

Wherever you go, they have issues depending on who you ask.

Ask yourself, what do you like in their service?
Have you tried to change the DNS from Enom and Godaddy? Definitely a lot easier using enom.
Have you transfer a domain? It's easy to push to enom, ofcourse few more steps with godaddy.
Price? depending on your account. Though you can get a reseller account at lower registration, renewal or transfer fee.

If you want a lower account for your business, create one in any reseller website that will cost you $8.95. You can easily push your domains.

I like moniker for extra security feature.

Hope this help.

GoDaddy any day over enom. I started out objective and impartial, and my preference was shaped over 9 years away from enom and toward GoDaddy. But I have suggestions for improvement for both.

Thanks for pushing that .org to me Kevin though I will need to let it drop.

Enom refused to budge on the $29.95 price and also will not let me push it back to you because it can't be pushed for 7 days and they also do not allow pushes of expired names from what I can see. I think I will let it drop as I refuse to pay $30 to renew it.

You can find enom accounts much cheaper all over the place, I can set you one up that charges 9.18, and I think I'm supposed to set it to 9.95. You can also push expired names, just use bulk push. you do have to wait seven days, they used to say okay sometimes, its set in stone now....
