Can godaddy's backorder service beat snapnames or namewinner?.

When I first registered domains with GoDaddy 3 years ago, my wife saw the CC records and thought it was porn :D

Imagine doing that now and it says "BackDaddy" or something like that :D LOL

Well I just backordered a name at GoDaddy that has a snap and a $145 bid on namewinner. We shall see how good this system is in 3 days!

"...if your backorder is not successful, it can be reassigned to another domain name. If it is not reassigned to another domain name within 10 days after notification that we were unable to acquire the domain name being backordered, the back order will expire.

I backordered businesswoman.com with godaddy and lost. I've changed to another name, will see again in a few days. But for $18 what can you expect?

As the backorder purchase procedure didnt ask me which name i wanted.
Confused...

Hi beatz, after you login, you can find an option in the drop down box, it's a bit tricky.

One good use of GoDaddy's drop service is as added protection. If you already have the Snap, the high bid at NW etc. it's then crazy to leave open the chance - however small - that GoDaddy will swoop under your nose and get the domain for somebody else for a mere $19!

I'm trying the service out too. Just lost JCA.com, but that one had a $10,000 bid on NW, so I can't talk shit yet. Waiting to see if any of my sneaky back-orders go through to test the success. That said, I'm also using it to close the loop on some names I REALLY want and have snaps and bids on. I agree, it makes no sense to leave a back-door open if you're serious about getting a name.

I talked to GoDaddy today on the phone and she would not give me a straight answer about thier performance against SN etc.

She would just tell me "at 11am we try to register the name if it becomes avail, and if we dont you get credit towards a new backorder"

I asked her at least 3 times if they beat snapnames or other services..

They try at a fixed time every day? Dude, that completely sucks. WHat a rip-off. OK, sounds like we need to verify their methodologies. A backorder is bullshit if it doesn't ping the registry like a hacker launching a denial of service attack.

LoL nice, well this proves that as of now the GoDaddy backordering system is not very efficient. Maybe they will improve after they see their sales going down for that. :D
