I'll tell you what i found from my own experience:
Trust yourself, build your won tools, maintain your own database, do your own lookups.
Whatever there is available right now if used by everyone. Everyone and their cousin's dogs to be exact.
SnapNames, NameWInner, etc. are ok for once you found the little gem, but to find it, you have to do the work yourslef.
Chances are that if you look at all the free and paid expired and on-hold lists, all the good names will have snaps on them by the time you go check them out. Why? Because the people that have the snaps didnt wait for the lists to show the names, they knew months in advance because they did the search, they put in the work.
