Hi there,

I was busy online, and wanted to go onto google, I accidently mystyped google.com and found goofle.com. This is by far the best google.com typo I have come accross, considering its closeness to the spelling and on the key board.

I contacted the owner and said he is now taking offers on the domain, goofle.com starting from $75k. This is a good domain for google to purchase.
Anyway its worth discussing.

I'd think very hard about registering this domain as a drop much less paying $75K for it. I suspect that Google can file a WIPO claim and own the domain for about the $2,000 to $4,000 the filing will cost them. I am pretty sure that they have a floor or two of lawyers with a few spots of time available!

Don't think there's too much worth discussing. If someone forks over 75k for that name, they might as well go ahead and give me that 75k, because that's what they'll be doing, throwing money away.

Suppose you could avoid google going after it. What would you do with it anyway?
Its not like a typo of something new to people. Quite the opposite. EVERYONE knows what google.com looks like. And the second they realize they are at the wrong site, they will correct their mistake and move on.
The only way to get people to do anything on the site would be to imitate the google page...not a good idea.
Also, from experience, big fat traffic numbers of a typo of a well known site don't convert for anything.
The only reason "utube.com" makes money is because people don't know they are at the wrong site! :)
The owner is looking for a sucker. (whether he knows it or not)

As a side note, I guess the owner did not expect you to post this on a public chat board. This is not doing him a service...

If you learn anything in this business, it is this one thing, do not play with infringing domains. It is not worth the time and hassle.

google to purchase?? They wouldn't have to purchase this name they could just take it away by filing a WIPO. Thanks to you, they probably will now.

according to compete.com it has 18,5k US visitors per month. Probably even more from other countries.
But it's not the kind of domain you'd risk parking,.. so all that traffic is probably useless
