Ouch! I'm sure they'd hate to hear you ask that! Bad PR if a company's sole function and claim to fame, is "powered" by another company.
Google does use DMOZ's listings for its "Directory" search (human-editted directory listing). It cross references it with its own PageRank and indexing system to enhance it further. DMOZ is free. Google's normal search does not use DMOZ's website *at all* (but does link to categories). DMOZ is powered by Netscape/AOL.
The reason why DMOZ is so slow sometimes is that some people spider the website dynamically, redisplaying its content on their own websites (
Click Here ). Google downloads all their data and maintains it separately so their not affected by them. Amazon had this happen to it for a while, but then made the smart move of supplying a more efficient and "smart" API for developers to utilize (
