Two different entities didn't think so:

The registrant and Google. :)

I wonder how many of these will get dropped when they hit their renewal time?

"to google" something is the same as "to search for" something nowadays though. And google is now a dictionary word.

Well technically if it is a dictionary word, google has no right.... Because you can't TM a dictionary word correct?

They TM'ed it before it was a dictionary word :) But I was hinting maybe "googler" is more borderline, if used correctly.

Also remember, MS TM'ed "Windows"

well i find that stupid still cause like cant I go TM the word "the" and market that.... then i could have a case with millions of domains and stuff... It to me is just unethical, but the googler dude has a good case IMO.

I can't find their TM on "Windows" but I found two on "Microsoft Windows", "Windows Live" (expired), etc..

But none on "Windows" itself.

I'm going to have to take that link with a grain of salt. According to the US TM office, Windows Live is a dead TM (expired) - MS claims it is active.

What about the cricket term, a googly, for a type of ball bowled in the game? That's been around a lot longer than the Internet.

If you reg'd "googly" and had cricket content on it I don't think you would have issues.

However, if you decide to look the 8000 pound gorilla in the eye...I guarantee you he WILL take your banana....

You guys have to realize there are people working in Google's legal department responsible for protecting their rights online..if they don't find domains to "reclaim" and go after then they won't have a reason to still work there. Sometimes you just have to justify your job. These names are garbage btw, I could tell them 50 names off the top of my head that get 1000x more traffic intended for their precious search engine.

the more domains they get, the more money they have to pay in renewal fees?

I think they're to the point where they are their own registrar.

Hmm, who knows:

ICANN Registrar: MARKMONITOR INC
