I am curious to hear peoples opinions as to how the Google Keyword Tool predicts type-in traffic relative to the old Ovt Keyword Tool (score)?

How would you weight the importance/relevance of Exact, Phrase and Broad match results for predicting type-in traffic?

I use all of googles tools, as well as wordtracker to make decisions nowadays. There can be a big difference between what all the tools tell you.

The only thing I don't like about the Google tool is the times when it'll give a nice high number for avg monthly but no data for the previous month...it does seem to do that mostly on site names or terms without much advertising, but I caught it doing it on some full ads terms and it just makes me wonder if the number it's giving me is viable or what. Also, there are some times when phrases that aren't grammatically correct have unusually high #s, but I wouldn't be surprised if the #s are still right - I realize not everyone searches using perfect English. :p

Better than OVT though where you had to worry about plurals, discerning phrases with words like my and your, etc. our of the results. "space" would have a ton of results but how many of that would have been searches for "my space", which they weren't typically separating out? Plus you had to worry about word order, which usually you could figure out a bit through how many google results for exact phrase with different word orders of the keywords, but still - much easier now with the Google tool breaking all them out into their own #s.

We are comparing 2 years old data with up-to-date information. Obviously Google Keyword Tool.

I notice this from time to time as well and don't really understand how one month there isn't enough data to report, but in another month is a xxx,xxx avg. search term result. :?::?:
