December 15, 2006 -- (WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) -- Search engine giant Google (google.com) announced on Friday it is now offering .com, .org, .net, .biz, and .info domain names for $10 a year.
The domain names are for use with Google Apps for Your Domain, a free hosting service aimed towards small businesses. The service offers Web sites, email, instant messaging and shared calendars, all personalized with the business' name and logo.
Users will retain full control of their domain settings, enabling them to use the domain with non-Google services.
Google has partnered with Go Daddy (godaddy.com) and eNom (enom.com) for domain registration services, while the registration process has been integrated in the Google Apps for Your Domain set up process. Google says the process includes "private registration to protect your personal information".
