How important is the number of google search results when trying to determine a domain's value?

Hello

Google search results are a good way to determine the popularity/usage of a word or phrase. However, the search results can be misleading. The words should be entered using quotes to get results for the exact word/phrase. Also make sure that the results are not suggestions based on an alternative spelling and are not exaggerated due to an error or Google algorithm adjustment.

thevirtual has some good advice, about "search terms" in quotes.

Also, make sure the phrase is in the proper context. For example, there may be many matches for "coin red" - but the real term may be "coin red book." Also, if the term shows up in many of the Google search results, as the web page title/link - that is also another good indication of popularity and strength.

Thanks guys for the fast responses. I'll try to explaian this the best I can. I hope it makes sense

INSIDE the "" the LLN results show 693,000. The LL N, with a space between, shows results of 4,400,000. The same for hyphenated LL-N.

WITHOUT the quotation marks the LLN shows results of 695,000. The LL N, with the space, returns 4,250,000,000. The LL-N, with the hyphen, shows results of 4,260,000,000. (the hyphenated results are now showing 4,230,000,000) The majority of the results, that I went through, resolve to the LLN.

Could the WITHOUT "" numbers be used as a guide also?

This is a LLN dot org.

This is a LLN dot org.

Google search results are not a good determining factor unless it is a word/phrase. There are many results for any random number/letter combination.

Unless the domain is generic, like 4x4, b2b, etc... it would be hard to determine value. Also, the .org extension reduces the value, especially for a LLN domain.

Could the WITHOUT "" numbers be used as a guide also?

Google results without quotes are not reliable.

Google results without quotes show pages where all matched terms are found.... but not necessarily next to one another.

If you search for Term1 Term2 without quotes, it will return loads of pages where you might have a situation like this:

paragraph: kdsjfhksdfh kjsdfhkjdsfh ksdjfhksdjhf Term1 asdkdsfkjhdskfj bdskjfhsdkfh kjsdhfhfsd

paragraph: jdjshfkfjsd kjdshfkjsdhf Term2 kjdhsakjdshffdsj kdksjfhkjdsfh ksdjfhdskfjshdf

and the terms are completely unrelated to one another. My favourite example of this is shown with a search for pizza crowbar, no quotes. 81k results.
