These domainers site Madison Avenue and Advertising agencies as pretty much out of the loop when it comes to domain names. It seems like they are trying hard to increase their personal sale valuations and not succeeding much as they'd like.
These very domainers would not pay more than a few hundred to acquire names they'd like to sell Madison Avenue for $100k.
The ad media people are not as dumb as domainers like to portray them (as frequently as they do). Print and conventional ad formats have their own place and ROI. They do drive visitors to their company brands represented online. They stand out from the crowd.
A major problem in domaining industry is to resign to the belief that someone is an expert and that so called expert will determine what is valuable and what is not. Ah! And there is revenue and traffic stats which so many of them so heavily rely on.
They must compliment and add value to the domain name and not be the only determining factor of it's value.
Sadly, too many domainers fall for this gimmick and sell names for a loss. I sell names with 0 traffic and 0 income and they make me more $$$ than my traffic names.
At the end of the day, you alone should determine what is valuable and how valuable it is. BUt this does notcome easy. If someone disagrees, I just end up keeping my domain and they in turn end up keeping their money.
The kind of money people pay (for some names) at auctions is laughable. Please! Who are they fooling?
