Big announcement from Google today, how will this affect click thrus? In theory it should go up because they are showing more relevant ads based on user behavior.

Google Inc will begin to aim online ads at people based on their Web browsing history, joining an industry trend that has raised privacy concerns even as it makes product pitches more effective.

The new program, dubbed "interest based" advertising, is being rolled out on a test basis across Google's network of partner websites and on its video-sharing site YouTube, according to an announcement on Google's blog on Wednesday.

The White Tower sends up another signal flare. Where's Arthur Scherbius when you need him.

only time will tell if it affects ctr's in a good way or bad way.the way i see it,ifit gets the user more interested in clicking the ads and increases the chances of him/her clicking then why not.

Got the email this morning also. Looks like we need to create privacy policies for our sites now. Oh boy.

does anyone have any wording for a privacy policy? or does it not matter if you aren't collecting info from people? for example, if you have a page with information on it only, and aren't asking for emails and personal info, do you need a privacy policy just to address the new Google behavior ads?

I spent three hours writing one, gettin' bittttch slapped by Google along the way. "Don't create pages and content for Google, build a website for users".

You'll have to write one from scratch, otherwise you'll get nailed with a duplicate content penalty.
