This article touches the fringes of the Transparency topic, specifically identifying the potential positive and negative ramifications Google may experience from total transparency.

Direct Navigation is fast becoming the path to online product & service commerce.

Even though search engines currently maintain a majority market share of online advertising dollars, direct navigation is eroding there market share as more and more consumers navigate directly to the website they are searching for.

This is all good for the domainer.

Transparency will never be an option, because behind Google's iron curtain, is a rape, pillage, and plunder business model. They're so dirty they bleed corruption, if you don't believe me, just look at your ordinary run of the mill domain parking company. It seems to be the same old sh!t over and over again. A new parking company opens it's doors with an insane payout rate, once a large enough traffic base is locked down, the table turns, and the spinsters come out to start threading the wool. Google pioneered this scheme with AdSense. With regard to AdWords, it's the same sham from another angle, and by that I mean I'm seeing a 40%+ click fraud rate in any given campaign that I run. Then there is their bread and butter search engine of course, which hasn't really updated in roughly 3 years, minus some cosmetic data shaving. I suppose when a heap of rubble becomes a fine tuned money making machine, why think about it from a "user's" perspective at that point.

I have no problem with rampant capitalism, because it does usually cure it's own mischief. But what sickens me with Google, is this Leonid Brezhnev, "don't be evil" style approach that they use to try and mask a purely greed driven agenda. Long live Mother Russia, eh Sergey!

As the mainstream media and the consumers are coming to realize the benefits of direct navigation, more and more advertising dollars are being directed back into old fashioned marketing campaigns, ie, direct mail, airwaves, etc.

Even though going back into old fashion advertising may immediately feel completely against all that a domain’er has believed in for the past 10 years.

This is a very effective method of promoting a website, especially, generic industry specific domain websites.

This method of advertising a website offers proven strong ROI of your advertising/marketing budget. Primarily, generic industry specific domain name websites are the basis for using old style advertising/marketing methods.

Back to Transparency, this will erode a significant percentage of the advertising market share back away from the search engines. This will force the search engines to adjust to retain share.
