At their developer conference today, Google announced their long-awaited Google TV service, which promises to merge the web with TV more smoothly and seamlessly than ever before. With some interesting Android integration thrown in for good measure.

I haven't read enough detail, but suffice it to say that cable (and satellite) companies that are too exclusively focused on TV 1.0 will be learning a hard lesson soon...

No wonder they're all turning into pure data/telecom companies, selling us bandwidth and lobbying against Net Neutrality...
